IMO, Trump should have lost his clearance when he revealed those sub locations a while back. Industrial security measures are put in place for a reason. No one should be immune to their violations.

If anyone in my command released information like that, we would have been in some serious trouble. At the very least, faced a judge.

Given the costs of new American fighters I suspect Norway could only afford one.

Except that, as the commander-in-chief, he gets to make those decisions. I do not believe his clearance can be revoked, since he is the highest executive and authority in the military chain of command.

I worked in that field for a long time. I'm almost certain no one is immune to security act, LMM, or any other violations. If my memory serves me correctly, the reviews go straight to Congress.

I could be wrong or something may have changed...

Sweet baby jeebus. It was a pretty simple mistake.

    *shakes head*

"But no such aircraft exists. The president may have misspoke because the US has sold Norway 52 F-35s.

Oslo received the first three last November.

So, somebody would have probably noticed new jets sitting on the runway or flying over the capital, even if they were secret?

The executive branch carries out the laws made by Congress. Congress can certainly exercise its oversight prerogative, and can impeach, but it cannot prosecute violations of the law (an executive function) or punish those found guilty (a judicial function). For Congress to enforce the law would be a violation of separation of powers - i.e., the plain text of U.S. Const. art. I, 1; art. II, 1; and art. III, 1.

Ah, thanks for the clarification. Luckily, me and security managers I worked with never had a case like that...
