Sen. Scott and Graham Confirm Trump's Remark

Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) said Friday that his fellow South Carolina Sen. Lindsay Graham (R), who attended a bipartisan meeting with President Trump and lawmakers Thursday, confirmed a Washington Post account of Trump's remarks calling Haiti, El Salvador and some African nations "shithole countries." Scott, the Senate's lone black Republican, told The Post and Courier on Friday that Graham confirmed the newspaper's account of the conversation, which Scott said he found "incredibly disappointing."

“We ought not to disparage any other nation, frankly," Scott said. "Thinking about the success of America. It is the melting pot. It’s the ability to weave together multiple communities together for one nation.”

Graham reportedly challenged Trump on the comments, according to an account of the meeting earlier Friday from Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin (Ill.). "My colleague [Graham] spoke up and made a direct comment on what the president said,” Durbin said, according to MSNBC. “For him to confront the president as he did, literally sitting next to him, took extraordinary political courage and I respect him for it."

Like many Democrats, Durbin went further than his Republican colleagues, calling the president's Thursday remarks "racist."

    And Republican representatives..."can not recall".

In a joint statement, Sens. Tom Cotton of Arkansas and David Purdue of Georgia said they did not recall Trump's remarks.

Cotton wants to run for President in the future...he should always be held accountable for not standing up for the truth.

There is no official word from the White House. Officially Trump's current denial of comment is the position of the United States.

Par for the course with Cotton. One of MM's biggest enablers.

Trump was correct. Those countries are third world morasses. It's stupid to deny it or try to twist it into something it's not.

    Which countries?

Does Donald Trump have some official US list of which countries and what the criteria is for which countries are placed on his list?

Or does he ...Like usual just pull crap out of his ass...?

Graham and Durbin thought they would be the only 2 in that meeting. Supposed to be bipartisan. Instead the immigrant haters, Cotton,Perdue and Goldblatte were invited. That may be one of the reasons Graham backed Durbin. I think Scott was probably offended and he is not going down with the Trump ship.

Senator Durban says he heard the president make these comments.

Why didn't senator Durban come out immediately following the meeting and say so?

Scott said Graham told him. That does not count.

In the end, who cares? If said it was factual. And ya gotta love the faux poutrage! LOL
