Trump Ordered Bannon to Limit Testimony ? Foreign Policy

resident Donald Trump personally made the decision to curtail the testimony of former chief White House political strategist Steve Bannon before the House Intelligence Committee, according to two people with firsthand knowledge of the matter.

Trump acted to limit Bannonís testimony based on legal advice provided by Uttam Dhillon, a deputy White House counsel, who concluded that the administration might have legitimate executive privilege claims to restrict testimony by Bannon and other current and former aides to the president, according to these same sources.
Looks like his legal advisor, is trying to protect himself

seems like it. Even though, Bannon is under no legal obligations to comply. Seems like he's sitting Trump up. Now, Mueller knows Trump was meddling around with his testimony.

But Dhillon has also concluded that Bannon and other current and former Trump administration officials do not have legitimate claims to executive privilege when it comes to providing information or testimony to special counsel Robert Mueller, according to the sources. Mueller is investigating whether anyone associated with Trump colluded with Russia to interfere in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

Dhillonís private and previously unreported legal advice to Trump could ultimately go against the presidentís interest, however, by making it increasingly difficult for any administration official ó or even a member of the presidentís family who advises Trump ó to refuse to provide information to Mueller.

While the president might be able to ďpoke the Congress in the eye,Ē the same legal rationale undercuts any effort to restrict the special counselís right to interview current or former Trump aides, the official said.

And once again, due to his incompetence, he steps in crap...again.

Seems like Mueller outwitted MM again, by serving a subpoena to Bannon while he was testifying in Congress.

It could be that Trump is setting up an appeals challenge what ever the outcome of Muellers investigation.

It could be Trump has been setting up this so-called Executive privilege where by his conversations with his subordinates is "protected" conversations.

Remember Sessions has already made this claim when he refused to discuss conversations he had with Trump because of this new...untested exemption.

Sessions did not come up with this strategy all on his own.

I thought it was Congress that served Bannon a subpoena while he was testifying. Mueller threatened a subpoena and then negotiated a voluntary interview, didn't he?
