The family doesn't manage Walmart stores. You guys are mental infants when it comes to Walmart.

Very soon, they won't be hiring elderly in the first place. If it weren't for Walmart being willing to hire them in the first place, most of them wouldn't have jobs. No one else wants their labor.
    Mr. Neomalthusian,

I love the neo-liberal crap from the link...."I was shopping at Walmart, wait, don't get down on me, I had no choice because there was nowhere that was cheaper, more convenient, and with a better selection of goods, but I still hate it as much as you. In fact, let me tell you how sympathetic and empathetic I am to the working person. In fact, I am almost a saint."
    Thanks from Neomalthusian

The self-check counters have room for very few items, can't help if there's a question on price (no price tag etc), they're just not suitable for large items or large amounts of ...and you can't scan and bag at the same time.
I'll leave my cart and walk out of the store before I will use the self-check out counter.

    That's your choice.

Many people still want a cashier to do it for them

Walk into the nearest Wal-Mart, to see if the cashiers have chairs to sit on - no need to shop.

What would be the point of that? The thread is about the lack of cairs or stolls for even the most elderly of the Wal-Mart cashiers.

Most stores I've seen have one cashier that takes care of a minimum of four automated cashier machines. That means three cashiers out of a job.
