F.B.I. Contradicts WH on Porter Timeline

WASHINGTON — The F.B.I. director, Christopher A. Wray, said on Tuesday that the bureau delivered final results in January of its background investigation into Rob Porter, the staff secretary who resigned in disgrace amid spousal abuse allegations. But the White House allowed Mr. Porter to continue serving in his post until the accusations surfaced publicly in press reports last week.

In testimony on Capitol Hill, Mr. Wray upended the White House’s timeline of the events that led to Mr. Porter’s departure, contradicting the contention of top officials that his background investigation was “ongoing” at the time of his resignation.

Mr. Wray also told lawmakers that the bureau delivered its first report on Mr. Porter to the White House in March, months earlier than White House officials said they learned of the problems with his background check. Mr. Wray did not disclose the contents of that initial report, but Mr. Porter’s two ex-wives have said they told F.B.I. agents of the abuse in interviews conducted in January 2017.

Mr. Wray’s testimony pointed up a contradictory and frequently changing story line from the White House about a scandal that has engulfed the West Wing. It has raised questions about the credibility of President Trump’s most senior advisers, their awareness of serious allegations against an aide who had access to some of the nation’s most sensitive information, and the degree of tolerance they may have shown to an ambitious colleague apparently eager to cover up a dark past.

On CBS this morning it was reported that the FBI turned over complete back-ground check on Porter this past summer.

Tom Cotton was on CBS this morning and the ladies kept asking him what was up with the WH allowing these interim passes to go unfilled...Cotton kept blaming the FBI for not completing the check in a timely manor

Cotton could not answer their questions. Kept putting it on the FBI>

LOL - How can they blame the FBI when they gave them the info in March??

Nope, this is just the WH covering up that they have so many people on staff that don't have security clearance, let they still allow them to view classified material.

The other "theory" I heard was that Porter was good at his job and a Trump loyalist. The latter being a strict requirement to work in the WH - is is why you have seen such chaos when it comes to staffing.

For instance, some experts in the security area were willing to work for the WH, but they had said negative things about him during his campaign. So that's "his" bar so to speak.

They don't have to be qualified or be a expert in an area. If you say anything bad about Trump, your out.

    NOT NORMAL.

FBI director gives new details that contradict White House timeline of Rob Porter's departure
By Jordyn Phelps, Meridith McGraw and JUSTIN FISHEL

"FBI Director Chris Wray offered new details on Tuesday that directly contradict the White House’s account of the timeline leading to former White House staff secretary Rob Porter’s departure following allegations of domestic abuse from two of his ex-wives."
"Wray told the Senate Intelligence Committee that the FBI completed its background investigation of Porter "in late July." The FBI then responded to requests for follow up information in November, and finally "administratively closed the file in January," Wray said."
"The timeline laid out in Wray’s testimony before Congress sharply departs from the narrative offered by the White House last week."

    ================================================== ==

So there you go. Sounds like another White House Cover-Up. Why not be transparent instead to the American people who put them there in the first place?

    This is Comey's fault!

Oh, you mean under Comey the FBI informed the White House they had a wife beater in their employ, and the White House did nothing?

Considering how Turmp is a misogynistic dickhead, I am not surprised.

The entire GOP needs to be run out of Washington.
They are aiding and abetting Trump and Putin in their efforts to undermine our country.

The Groping Old Putz's have an oath of loyalty to tRump. They can not say or do anything that is negative towards tRumpanze. A true few steps in the direction of treasonous behavior.
