    Drugging your kids.
    Then leaving them alone.
    Then not taking them serious.
Not teaching them about survival in this world (from budgets to goals).
Being a miserable parent/person, representing the world they get to look forward to when they get older.

Will every kid going through this turn out bad? No.
But it is a very bad mix. Especially when all they have to be is 18 and they can legally arm themselves for any reason they wish.

    So gun issue, certainly.
But it's way more than that.
True. The concoction of circumstances is more like an allergy than poison. It doesn't affect all kids the same. But for some, it sends them down a path that no one wishes for them or their potential victims.

It is way more than a gun issue. But people shouldn't pretend that guns aren't part of the concoction either.
Thanks from Hollywood and Ian Jeffrey

I don't know about that. Japan has some of the most violent cartoons and comics that you could imagine, yet they have a low crime rate. I have a clean criminal record and when I was younger I watched horror movies all of the time. I am not at all convinced that violence in the media causes crime.

I didnt realize how much violence there is the US culture until I saw it from the outside looking in.. and that was back in the 80s when I was teen before school massacres were de rigueur.

Unfortunately lots of Americans dont know any better.. they incorrectly assume that the level of violence in the USA is the norm for what’s suppose to be a civilized developed nation, but in fact what’s going on in the USA now is more akin to third world shitholes.
You have any ideas about how we became a more violent culture?

Violent movies contribute, too, but there WERE some violent movies back then.

And, agree that the loss of the family unit contributes.
I remember my son playing those games hooked up to a sound system. Felt like you were walking into a war zone. We got rid of those games, felt it was to violent

But, having such proliferation is certainly not conducive to a less violent country, society.

It is the proverbial "match to the powder keg" if that society becomes more violent, so the availability of guns IS a huge part of the problem.

And we have always had a very high rate of gun violence in this country, maybe a few percent shift from time to time, but compare that to other developed countries and it has ALWAYS been a disaster.

    Thx
I am puzzled why young people are becoming more violent. Hoping to find answers

Young men have become more nihilistic and desperate. And they got that way because life itself makes you that way unless you have a purpose and a destiny. There is a lot of malevolence and suffering in this world and it's easy for people to become embittered by that. If they don't see a way out, they turn against life itself. They end up making a display for their hatred of being by massacring the innocent. That is what is happening.

Dylan Klebold had a journal where he explains his reasoning behind it all. You can learn a lot from that, and hopefully Nikolas Cruz will shed some light on it as well.

CRIME & COLUMBINE | Quotes and excerpts from Dylan?s journal: ?I was...

“Existence is a great hall, life is one of the rooms, death is passing thru the doors, & the ever existent compulsion of everything is the curiosity to keep moving down the hall, thru the doors, exploring rooms, down this never-ending hall.”

“Existence is pure hell & pure heaven at the same time. I will never stop wondering. The lost highway will never end.”

“Time to die, time to be free, time to love.”

“The zombies will never cause us pain anymore.”

“Fact: People are so unaware. … well, Ignorance is bliss I guess…. that would explain my depression.”
“oooh god i want to die sooo bad… such a sad, desolate, lonely, unsalvageable i feel i am….. not fair, NOT FAIR!!!! I wanted happiness!! I never got it…”

”My existence is shit to me – how I feel that I am in eternal suffering, in infinite directions in infinite realities. Yet these realities are fake – artificial, induced [?] by thought, how everything connects, yet its all so far apart…. & I sit & think…"

“I don’t fit in I’ve been thinking of suicide gives no hope, that I’ll be in my place wherever I go after this life … that I’ll finally not be at war with myself, the world, the universe – my mind, body, everywhere, everything at PEACE in me – my soul (existence)."

”Goodbye, sorry to everyone… I just can’t take it … all the thoughts … too many … make my head twist… I must have happiness, love, peace. Goodbye"

“some zombies are smarter than others, some manipulate… like my parents.”

“It’s interesting, when I’m in my human form, knowing I’m going to die. Everything has a touch of triviality to it. Like how none of this calculus shit matters. The way it shouldn’t. the truth. In 26.4 hours, I’ll be dead, & in happiness. The little zombie human fags will know their errors, & be forever suffering and mournful”

They have no purpose, or can't find one, and thus become extremely resentful of life itself.
