    Lukewarm condemnation.
Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on Monday slammed Russia over an alleged nerve agent attack in Britain — going further than the White House in directly calling out the Kremlin as “an irresponsible force of instability in the world.”

Tillerson said the United States will stand “in solidarity” with the United Kingdom and would coordinate its response to the attack. At least two people, former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia, have been left extremely sick due to the alleged nerve agent.

Still a heck of a lot better than the crickets coming out of the WH.

I heard the White House gave Russia 36 hours to provide an explanation. All this rush to be upset that we are not standing by England is partisan bullshit. They were clearly working behind the scenes, are not satisfied, and now putting Putin on blast.

I can't imagine this can go on for very long, but Trump always surprises me.

Either Putin has something on him, or Trump is afraid enough that he does to constantly tiptoe on the matter, something he does for nobody else.
Why would he have to Concur this is a UK investigation and Crime. So what does him concurring with it have to do with the price of Tea at Buckingham?

You might have had a dumb, but still superficially relevant, argument to make along these lines ^ yesterday. Now you don't.

Rex Tillerson named and shamed Russia as he should have, and was immediately fired.

There's a bad moon on the rise...

Also, the attack wasn't a "crime." It was a terroristic chemical bombing in a restaurant full of innocent people.

How? Rex "put Putin on blast" and was immediately fired.

New: Following the "barbaric" usage of what is now confirmed to be Novichok nerve gas on British soil, a Soviet-pioneered agent more dangerous than Sarin or VX,

Theresa May has announced she will declare 23 Russian diplomats "persona non grata" and suspend all "high level" relations with Russia.

In addition, the UK will freeze all Russian assets that have any connection to their government, until Russia shows it will no longer threaten persons in the UK.

Effectively, the UK is taking every diplomatic action possible other than closing the embassy and/or booting the actual ambassador. Cold War stuff.

@Djinn please merge any new threads about this ^ with this one, as it's directly related to my earlier topic.

    The plot thickens.

Will be interesting to see exactly what proof/evidence Russia is required to provide.

It seems in this case the Democrats want President Trump to be hasty and instantly jump to a conclusion that isn't proven. Even the UK said that it was highly likely. Is that the standard now? What actions are the left wanting taken by President Trump, better yet, what actions would they back President Trump taking?

By the way, if anyone is tempted to minimize this with "Well, they just tried to kill Russians," Sergei Skripal was a British citizen who honorably served MI6 for years as an agent under non-official cover, and then served two years in a Russian prison before the U.S. managed to leverage him out by exchanging our own captured "illegals," including the infamous Anna Chapman.

In addition, Nick Bailey, a detective sergeant of the Salisbury Police, remains in serious condition after apparently being exposed to the Novichok at Skripal's house (which may have been the site of the attack, not the public restaurant where Skripal was discovered unconscious as previously reported). Other police officers had to be hospitalized with significant nervous system-related injuries.

Absolute barbarism. It's an act of God they are all still alive.
