Why not make it easy on yourself and look at Chicago with its strict gun laws, 526 shot and killed this year so far.

I think she's avoiding inner city shootings for some strange reason.

You can also look at her home state. I has the most firearms laws on the book of any state in the nation, very strict gun control, and at the same time has the most firearm homicides of any state in the nation.

See, that one actually made the news - while the ones I post usually do not generate headlines outside the local area where it happened.

Don't get why some are trying to derail this thread over and over. These shootings take place every day and people die.

A Morgan County man and woman died this morning in what authorities are calling an apparent murder-suicide.

Debbie Cox was fatally shot this morning by her husband, who also killed himself, authorities said. Debbie Turner Cox, 54, was killed by her husband before he turned a gun on himself, according to authorities. The husband, 61-year-old Dale Cox, died after being taken by helicopter to Huntsville Hospital. The couple's names were released by Morgan County Coroner Jeff Chunn

SOUTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. - Multiple police agencies are investigating a triple shooting involving two children, and an officer-involved shooting that left the suspect and his girlfriend dead. The first shooting happened at a South Fulton County home on Keels Lane around 7:30 a.m. Sunday. Police said Timothy Wyatt, 41, shot and killed his girlfriend, Tawanna Washington Collins, before shooting and injuring her sons, ages 12 and 14. The boys were rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital, where they are recovering.

LANSING, Ill. (WLS) -- A 5-year-old Lansing girl is recovering Monday after she was shot during a party. Police said the shooting occurred early Monday morning on Rosewood Drive. According to police, the girl was asleep while a party was held in the house. She was accidentally shot when a gun her mother was handling went off, authorities said.

How many times do we have to go over this? Caliornia is by FAR the most populous state in the country, so looking at total numbers is really stupid.

If we look at firearm homicides per 100.000 people, California isn't that bad at all. The homicide rates in lots of states are higher, including (and in order from worst to least bad)

    Location Homicide Death Rate Deaths
    Louisiana.......... 11.7.......... 538
    Mississippi .......... 11.4 .......... 332
    Alabama .......... 8.1 .......... 374
    Arkansas .......... 7.7 .......... 217

    Actually, we do. See 10 U.S.C. 246.

The Supreme Court has determined otherwise. See District of Columbia v. Heller, 554 U.S. 570 (2008) and McDonald v. Chicago, 561 U.S. 742 (2010) (will provide links to full cases on request).
