Trump asks for $100 billion in additional tariffs on Chinese products

    Bravo.

For a fellow who originally said winning a trade war was easy, then ran away and said we lost a trade war with China years ago, and with farmers int eh states that supported him, seemingly part of his base, kicked in the testes over China's pending tariffs, our brilliant president seems to be upping the ante into full on stupid, asking for another $100,000,000,000 in tariffs on Chinese goods.

Why? Who knows. He is a clueless moron. He thinks that he will win a battle of wits and nerves. He has a 19th century mentality.

    Any number of reasons.

I am sure this will cost everyone dearly in one form or another.

By the way, $100 billion divided by 330,000,000, the rough estimate of the population of the US, works out to $303.03 per person.

President Donald Trump on Thursday said he has instructed the United States Trade Representative to consider $100 billion in additional tariffs against China.

"In light of China's unfair retaliation, I have instructed the USTR to consider whether $100 billion of additional tariffs would be appropriate under section 301 and, if so, to identify the products upon which to impose such tariffs," Trump said in a statement.

Dow futures tanked on the news, with the implied open down more than 400 points.

The President is insane. His comments today about rape, about millions of illegal voters that simply did NOT exist-----his OWN Commission on the matter was DISBANDED after finding NO evidence of such-----and these remarks about yet more tariffs.

America needs to face the truth. The President is insane.

A few GOPers beginning to see the light?

GOP senator on tariff threat: Hopefully Trump is blowing off steam because ‘this is nuts’
Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) slammed President Trump's announcement Thursday that he was considering imposing $100 billion in tariffs on China amid the ongoing trade dispute between Washington and Beijing, calling it nuts and dumb.

"Hopefully the President is just blowing off steam again but, if he's even half-serious, this is nuts. China is guilty of many things, but the President has no actual plan to win right now," Sasse said in a statement.

"He's threatening to light American agriculture on fire. Let's absolutely take on Chinese bad behavior, but with a plan that punishes them instead of us. This is the dumbest possible way to do this," he continued.

    [...]

Sasse joins Senate Republicans including Chuck Grassley (Iowa) and Pat Roberts (Kansas) in ripping the president's trade conflict with China this week.

YES, THIS. But Trump is too incompetent to do that. And he's a hypocrite, too.

Star Wars was a total joke and never ever implemented...the dupes were the American people that believed Star Wars Nuclear Defense System was even technically possible to implement.

Star Wars did not bankrupt the USSR...over spending on conventional nuclear weaponry did.

Star Wars by itself did not bankrupt the USSR...the threat of it on top of everything else proved too much for them to keep up with.

    Conservatives would gladly pay $303.03.
It's their 'Party over Country' fee.
