The last time Ted Cruz crucified an asshole he turned around later and endorsed him for President of the United States.

This is what happens when FB lets AI decide what is and isn't appropriate. And his answer to problems caused by AI in the first place? More AI.
So you can understand the reservations that people have when Zuckerberg says that in 5-10 years they'll have AI that can filter out "hate speech" before it even is posted.

We kind of do that here with certain words. Again, Zuckerberg is deliberately vague and his promises about AI sound like bullshit to me because I don't believe the AI he already uses works that great, so why would I think more of it would be better?

One of the most frustrating things about the hearings was the lack of follow up questions. Just ran into this today, I wish our reps would have addressed it in more detail:

Just days before Zuckerberg was slated to testify before key House and Senate congressional committees last week, Diamond and Silk alerted their followers on Facebook that their content was being suppressed by Zuckerberg's massive social media platform:

"Finally after several emails, chats, phone calls, appeals, beating around the bush, lies, and giving us the run around, Facebook gave us another bogus reason why Millions of people who have liked and/or followed our page no longer receives notification and why our page, post and video reach was reduced by a very large percentage.

"Here is the reply from Facebook... 'The Policy team has came to the conclusion that your content and your brand has been determined unsafe to the community.' Yep, this was FB conclusion after 6 Months, 29 days, 5 hrs, 40 minutes and 43 seconds. Oh and guess what else Facebook said: 'This decision is final and it is not appeal-able in any way.' "

    This:

"There are a great many Americans who I think are deeply concerned that Facebook and other tech companies are engaged in a pervasive pattern of bias and political censorship," Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, told Zuckerberg. "Facebook has blocked Trump supporters Diamond and Silk's page after determining their content and brand were, quote, 'unsafe to the community.' "

"Why is Facebook censoring conservative bloggers such as Diamond and Silk?" asked Rep. Joe Barton, R-Texas.

"What is unsafe about two black women supporting President Donald J. Trump?" asked Rep. Billy Long, R-Mo.

Zuckerberg said Facebook works to limit some categories of harmful content, such as material endorsing terrorism. Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., responded, "Let me tell you something right now. Diamond and Silk is not terrorism."

The CEO told lawmakers that any efforts to limit the duo's reach was an "enforcement error" on the part of the Facebook team but did not detail what Facebook had done — or why.

A Facebook spokesperson told NPR that the message telling Diamond and Silk that they were "unsafe" should never have been sent and that any issues that the duo had with their reach on Facebook has to do with policy shifts over the last two years that prioritize posts from friends and family on Facebook news feeds over other pages such as political ones.
Facebook also has a policy since 2016 of discouraging clickbait headlines.

    https://www.npr.org/2018/04/15/60249...ntent=20180415

Zuckerberg's pig headedness in refusing to explain why and how these happen just allows people to use their imaginations to fill in the blanks. He was asked about this on day one in the Senate and on day two, and despite having his "team" there, he still gave no better explanation.

Which begs the question, why would prefer to allow people to believe FB censors conservatives than explain the content blocking parameters and the notification system limitations? Surely we're not all so fucking stupid that none of could understand it.

Again, you, or anyone has a right to be an asshole, just as others have a right to call you one. This is just that on a larger scale. We are already seeing the downfall of facebook over this and other mistakes it's making. making light of it by suggesting what you are about diamond and silk really shows you don't grasp the larger picture.

You have the right to whine about this one aspect of this, and I have the right to point out that the sound of your whining is drowning out what I think are more important issues involved with FB.

No one is forcing D&S to use FB. There are, however, people who are having their data gathered by FB who don't even have a FB page. And they can only stop FB from gathering their data by creating a FB page so they turn the settings to "leave me the fuck alone". I feel way more sympathy towards those people and see that as a much bigger problem than what you are complaining about.
    '
But we all have our priorities. You might note, however, that while Cruz and a few others mentioned the D&S thing, they didn't dig any deeper to get answers about why it happened. That's called showboating and grandstanding from where I sit. They aren't trying to fix the problem, they just want to bitch about it and telegraph an "I feel your pain" message to conservatives who want nothing more than validation that they are being picked on. Same thing I've seen continuously with the "drain the swamp" administration. They have no intention of draining anything or fixing anything. Why should they when their base is happy when they simply shake their fists at the problem and blame liberals?

What are the "more important issues" involving facebook?
