And the whole "we don't sell your data" may have technically been true, but he's certainly making money on it.

Definitely not a stupid guy, and not exactly a pillar of morality. That dorky nerd act is charming, but not very convincing.
In a nutshell, Facebook human staff cannot handle the load of monitoring, development, security, etc. They'll need help, AI.

Elon Musk and many leaders in science and technology (Zuck is NOT considered a leader to us) have been outspoken both against AI and Facebook, individually. Go figure.

I'd estimate more than 1/2 of Zuck's success is simply due to ignorance of the populace.

Well, it's not working so well today. Zuck keeps saying "we told them to delete it" about CA, which if you think about it is absurd. He's just going to trust them? And this has happened a bunch of times, and every time it's the same response, "we're sorry and we are developing tools to fix that". Repeatedly, now he's trying to snow them with this "our robot overlords will save you all from being compromised". The panel can't prove he's not actually doing that, or what hell that will unleash before the bugs are worked out, so he is getting away with it.

A couple of things I side with him on are that no one is forced to use Facebook and you're free to delete your account whenever you want. Now once you've posted something, it's out there and people's ability to do screenshots and saving images means you can't really take it back, but hey, you put it up there in the first place stupid. Some of our reps seem to not understand that it's mostly the user's fault they get in trouble.

One thing I wish someone would ask is why don't ask user's what advertisements they would like to see? Save some money on all these algorithms by letting the users tailor their own shopping habits to their FB pages.

Conspiracy Theory time: I won't spell it out but I'll give you the ingredients.

2017 - we go through another round of "net neutrality" tensions with Ajit Pai blowing down the house of cards.
NN loses it's benefits in April 2018.
Zuck and co have many times spoken in favor of NN but have at the same time violated it's own principles.
2018 - Facebook spins into various levels of public turmoil
Zuck gets busted - calls himself out - mentions regulation of social media and privacy "fees".
Now he is in front of Congress...

Anyone see where this is going?
    Thanks from Blueneck and Friday13

And I am sick to death of hearing about Diamonds and Silk and the Catholic University. D&S are just pundits and how bloody was the crucifix the Catholics posted? ISIS has been know to crucify people and post it online, so it's likely a bot banned the photo for that reason.

Why because you disagree with their politics?

Hadn't thought of that, but I can see several angles where this thing is benefiting Zuckerberg and giving him a say in how all of social media gets regulated, not just FB.

What I found amazing is all the VERY OLD people in congress that DONT belong there. Times have changed. How can they make laws in this changing world when they have NO idea whats going on! Cruz was the only one that really made him squirm.
    Thanks from johnflesh
