Trump is calling backsies on exiting the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal

President Donald Trump, who called the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal a “disaster” and pulled the United States out of the agreement in his first action as president, wants back in.

Trump has directed Larry Kudlow, his new top economic adviser, and US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer to look into negotiating the US’s reentry into the TPP, Sens. Pat Roberts (R-KS) and Ben Sasse (R-NE) told reporters.
What a fucking jackass. However it will be fun watching all the trump worshippers come out now saying the TPP is just dandy.

The only reason Trump was aginst the TPP is that it was a very bad deal for the USA. What is wrong with re-negotiating the deal to make it fair for the US? The same holds for NAFTA. If it cannot be re-negotiated to make the deal fair for the US, then we need to withdraw from NAFTA.

His advisers have told him his threat of tariffs has already fucked the American farmer and the only way to possibly save them is get back into TPP. The guy is a fucking jackass but you go ahead and try and find a way to rationalize his fucking stupid moves. And he isn't renegotiating jack shit, he's begging that they let us back in.

No tariffs by the US or China have been imposed. This is all in the realm of talk and bluster so far, on both sides.

A little too late. He sure f'd up that original agreement edge that excluded China. Add in the exit from the Asia-Pacific Trade Agreement as well. Now we have to play catch up with all the partners as an unreliable minor partner and China is back in the running.

By backing out we now have little power. We will have to try and regain it but it won't be automatic.

Could you please elaborate on that? How was TPP bad for the US?

I can make a one liner too you know. TPP was great for the US because it contained the Chinese economic and military expansion in South East Asia with minimal economic or military exposure for the US. Dispute that please.

The American farmer has already lost over a billion dollars because of his threats alone. And you can bet there will be no reentry into TPP unless trump quits all his assinine talk of tariffs. It will be "sure we will let you in but first you must shove those steel tariffs up your ass sideways".

I don't know, maybe it was bad because virtually every republican congressman was for it?
