Yes, people forget back then there were finishing schools for women. The schools main purpose was to prepare young ladies to be good wifes, mothers and society hostess'. Barbara Bush went to one of the better ones, Ashley Hall, a finishing school in Charleston, S.C., in 1943. In her graduation photo she looks quite beautiful, I can see how she could catch George H's eye back then, they had met years before, when she was just 16.

She also went to Smith College afterwards.

The thing I will remember about Barbara Bush is the speech she gave at Wellesly College. There were protests back then from students who felt she shouldn't be given the honor of giving the commencement speech but in Barbara Bush's classy way she suggested she be joined by a female professor, Mrs. Gorbachev (yes the wife of Mikhail) to give a speech on her life as well. She joked that the students would have the prespective of the life of a college drop out (Barbara had dropped out of college to marry George) and Mrs. Gorbachev that finished her college education.

In Mrs Bush's way she made everybody laugh.

For over fifty years, it was said that the winner of Wellesley's annual hoop race would be the first to get married. Now they say, the winner will be the first to become a C.E.O. Both -- Both of those stereotypes show too little tolerance for those who want to know where the mermaids stand. So -- So I want to offer a new legend: the winner of the hoop race will be the first to realize her dream -- not society's dreams -- her own personal dream.

And who -- Who knows? Somewhere out in this audience may even be someone who will one day follow in my footsteps, and preside over the White House as the President's spouse -- and I wish him well.

So, my wife calls to me from the other room: "Oh, so sad. Barbara Bush died."

"That was faster than I thought it'd be" I replied. "Where'd you find out?"

    "Facebook."

::: Deep Sigh ::: "Gimme a minute... Nope. Looks like a hoax."

Did some Googling though. Here's a great example of actual FAKE NEWS. The website is: breaking-cnn.com and it's not affiliated with CNN, of course. They also have an article about Will Ferrell being killed in a car crash.

Edit: Just went and tried the site again and it's either taken down already or being overloaded.

Yea I have now seen two over the last 24 hours including one that basically eulogizes her and then says "go out and vote republican for Babs this November." Suspect Russian bots at it again?
