Okay, but let's not move the goalposts. I've never said that the SDNY Cohen investigation preceded the appointment of a Special Counsel. It did, however, precede the referral of evidence from Rosenstein.

That's not even close to the truth. Mueller answers to Rosenstein -- not the other way around. Not at all.

I know what the table of organization is. I'm telling you that if Rod Rosenstein wanted an underling versus a coequal colleague who has practical command of the whole investigation, he would've appointed someone else.

What if they find out that Cohen never did any legal work for Trump, played no role as a lawyer for any of his clients and was merely a fixer? What exactly constitutes being a lawyer for a client? Surely you must do something besides declare yourself a "lawyer" in order to have attorney/client status.

No. You've been implying that Mueller is Rosenstein's boss. In actuality, their roles are reversed, which is not to say that Mueller is incompetent.

That's not what I said. This is a waste of time.

Not only in this thread. You've implied as much in other threads as well, in support of your conspiracy theory that referring evidence against Cohen to SDNY is a plot by Mueller to provoke Donald Trump.

Would think that should be easy to figure out. Claims he has worked for Trump for many years so there must be receipts, contracts, payments etc to indicate specific jobs that were done.

I disagree that he should have been fired by Trump while investigating Trump. It is no different than Trump firing anyone investigating him and/or the minions around him. That is interfering with an investigation. Had Trump waited for the investigation to be completed he would not find himself in the ditch he keeps digging himself into. I agree about Comey and his narcissistic personality as it is nauseatingly irritating.

Believe Lanny Davis is just ranting from a "Comey cost Hillary the election!" perspective.

Less on the procedural merits of Trump firing the FBI director.

    No, I didn't say that.

What I'm saying is that if there's a case against Cohen, and there appears to be one, Mueller (and everyone else involved) can recognize ON THEIR OWN that they should not tarry in prosecuting that case. Justice should be served as soon as practical in any case, but this case in particular needs to be advanced so that, if there's a "trigger" where Trump is going to start firing people to protect himself because he's guilty and desperate, it happens before the election.

No matter the outcome, once the election has occurred, it becomes much easier for Trump to misbehave. If the Democrats win as expected, then the damage is done and Trump may even be tempted to shut down DOJ's investigations so he has only Congress to worry about, not people with powers to arrest and prosecute him or (more likely) people in his administration.

If the Republicans keep one or both houses of Congress, then it will be in Trump's best interest to shut down DOJ as early as possible so that his allies in Congress can drag out the aftermath as long as possible and as far away from the 2020 election as possible.

Really, Mueller should make all public reports he's going to make before this November, period. Once the GOP is kicked in the shin, or the political boot is lifted off of their neck, it becomes much, much easier for Trump shills in D.C. to protect him.
