AFIK, the Act of Succession does not allow Elizabeth II that privilege, so all such considerations are pointless. Charles is in many ways commendably anti-establishment, and I suspect he will make an excellent Monarch, whether we like him or not (and most Brits are pretty ambivalent towards old Big Ears). And Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, GCVO, CSM, PC will be Queen Consort, irrespective of what we may think of the appearance of a 70 year old woman. And lol, I do not know either well enough to condemn them as 'totally useless, tasteless, boring and worthless relics'.

No, Ms. Know-it-all, watch the video. The Queen did neither of those things. Of course, with your deep-seated hatred of the Obama's we aren't surprised that you'd TRY to make a shit-mountain out of a molehill. Thank God everyone here sees your arrogant, snotty reply for what it is:. An arrogant, snotty shit-spew. What a low-down thing to do....again it isn't surprising coming from you.

Even funnier...if MO hadn't responded as she did then you'd be pissing your grannies because she didn't reflect the Queen's friendly gesture.

Poor baby. *Pat, Pat*. It's ok. I'm sure that you have just scads of titillating material concerning MO that you can whine and cry about. In fact, maybe we should start a thread about the "Evil Doings of Michelle Obama." I cannot wait to see you pee and twist those grannies when she runs for president.

I remember seeing a news piece when a gunman shot while Charles was on a stage in public. Turns out it was blanks but what was amazing was Charle's reaction or should I say lack thereof. He just stood there with a vacuous look on his royal face as if he were transfixed. Not the sharpest knife in the royal drawer.

I've never found anything particularly offensive about Queen Elizabeth. Still, the monarchy is a vestigial remnant of a horrible time to be a human on the planet Earth.

Not much that one can do while standing at a podium after they have been shot, I suppose.

I think that is perhaps the most pertinent, and certainly the most sensible, comment made in this thread.

My mother, together with my late father, met Elizabeth II during his investiture and the subsequent garden party. They did not spend much time with her, but my mother was struck by her thoughtfulness in asking my dad about his health (he was badly injured in Iraq) and the treatment he was receiving. She struck my mum as a rather grandmotherly sort of person who seemed genuinely concerned. I imagine she would be very welcoming to someone she likes.

Lol, I saw that clip too - I believe it happened in Australia - and his only apparent reaction was to adjust his cuffs. I don't think anyone has claimed Charles is a mensa, but another view of the incident might be that he exhibited a certain rather regal sang froid in showing such a lack of concern.

He didn't even try to take cover or even leave the stage where he was a sitting duck. That's what amazed me. Others had to rush the stage and sort of wake him up to the fact that he might be vulnerable and hustle his royal butt to safety.
