The Queen certainly does not look sad with the Obamas.

They do not even want Trump in the Country, and Junior Bush tore up her Rose Garden. She was not happy about that.

Your wonderful Australian rock group Midnight Oil doesn't seem to care for the Union Jack or the royalty. Ever hear their song Truganini?

Not with her, but I have been sternly informed I'm supposed to address Brits with whom I work with "Sir" and "Lord," which I decline to do.

On the front page of CNN.com, a quarter of the stories in the "Top Stories" section, at the moment, deal with a royal family wedding.

If you're unfamiliar with the story (hard to imagine, since it's been covered by screaming headlines in every major news outlet), here's a quick summary: a guy who is sixth in line to inherit a meaningless figurehead position for a once-important country is engaged to marry an obscure character actor. That's it. For some reason, this is a major story requiring hundreds of articles over the course of months, even from hard-news outlets.

Now, to be fair, I don't understand celebrity culture in general. Although I enjoy movies and TV shows, I'm only mildly interested in talents behind the camera, and not interested at all in those in front of it. In fact, I prefer to know as little as possible about such people, since knowing a lot about an actor colors how you see a character (try watching the Cosby Show these days). But as un-engaging as I find regular celebrity gossip, gossip about British royals is ten times worse. At least most celebrities are famous because of something interesting about them -- incredible beauty, great talent, etc. I find it a lot harder to understand why someone would care about a homely aristocrat whose only interesting feature is inbreeding.
I don't get this american obsession for the British Royals either. It's weird. And stupid. Even a little disturbing.

So I agree with your comment 99%. Where I would disagree with you is that they are homely. Both of them look fine to me. So I don't really understand the criticism there.
    Thanks from Arkady

well then...i would say that is an issue with your company. If it pissed you off take it up with your HR department for infringing on your constitutional rights of freedom of speech. And if you really dont want to comply... quit. The choice is after all.... yours.

To be clear, I'm not calling her homely. Just him. But that's all in the eye of the beholder. Some people even thought Diana was a looker, so there's no accounting for taste.

Meh... Someone gave her the title of "Dame" and lots of people have agreed that's her name now, including her. I don't think it implies anything on your part for calling her that too.

Just because I refer to someone as Reverend So and So doesn't mean that I actually revere him, or think he should be revered. It's just a title.

At the same time I have to tip my hat to the late David Bowie for turning down the offer to be Sir David Bowie, Commander of the Order of the British Empire.

In fact, the Queen hugged Michelle first.
I guess some people who are determined to keep shitting on Michelle and Barack are determined to find fault where there is none.

Pathetic and juvenile, don't you think?
