I'm sorry. I happen to think she actually hurts the Democratic Party, and that they would do better, electorally, with a different person in line to be Speaker of the House. Face it: She is just not popular with the American public.

But she is politically correct in her judgment on this issue.

There was concern by several members that the investigation could drag on another year. Their concern was that by then we will be in the midst of the 2020 campaign and primary season and few will want to spend the energy going through the impeachment process. They would rather spend the time campaigning. But I think Pelosi wants to keep it on the issues so no matter the timing, they will be prepared for 2020.

Democratic Rep. Al Green said in a statement that Trump is "the quintessential person that impeachment was designed for," no matter what Pelosi thinks.

Green led a push to impeach the president last year. But Pelosi, the former House speaker, told The Dallas Morning News' editorial board on Friday that while she loved Green, she wishes he'd back off. "We have elections," Pelosi said Friday. "Go vote if it's a policy thing and a behavior thing. I don't know if you can get impeached for being a jerk, but if we did, this guy would be long gone. But that's not unifying." Talking about impeachment at this point, Pelosi said, is a gift to Republicans in the midterm elections.

But Green said in his statement Pelosi was "trivializing" Trump's behavior. "He is the most powerful person on Earth," he said. "His hateful, harmful tweets can, and have become policy. His words can move markets. He's not just some 'jerk,' he's the President of the United States with a bigoted policy agenda." Green's impeachment efforts have so far failed overwhelmingly in the House.

The position the Democrats are in is an interesting one. On the one hand, Green is entirely right, that Trump is the quintessential person for whom impeachment was designed. He's a crook who is abusing the office of the presidency for personal gain, obstructing justice, etc. The high crimes and misdemeanors are clear. But, on the other hand, the votes aren't there for removing him from office, and aren't going to be there even if a blue wave were to materialize. There's just no way to get enough Republicans on board to remove him, short of him being caught in bed with a dead boy. So, why bother even talking about impeachment? All it does is gives the right-wingers something to use to drum up voter turnout in the mid-terms, among the Trump cultists, who may not care about their local Republican swamp monster, but could be made to imagine they need to vote from him just to keep their God-King in power.

I was thinking of making a top post on this very subject. I DO think it is important to get a REPORT from the Mueller investigation before mid-August. Any later than that, and he will be accused of attempting to influence the election. So, from today, I would expect a report within THREE MONTHS.

The clock is ticking, Robert Mueller. The American people DO need to hear from you.

Al Green is an idiot with really nasty skeletons in his own scandalous closet. He gets elected, just like Shelia Jackson Lee does because their bleats continue to resonate among a historically Black electorate by constantly playing both the "race card" and the "we are victims" card. It seems to work to get them elected despite all their collective misdeeds, bad press, and the truth. It has been played by many, including the past POTUS and as of a few days ago even Spike Lee.

Here in Texas instead of saying "Remember the Alamo" the chant appears to be "Once we were slaves!" Eventually, pushing that guilt button on everyone that have never owned or never ever approved of slavery will get old and not elicit the required response. Then these people will be judged on their merit or lack of merit. That will surely be the end of them too. Then the truly able, smart, responsible, and ethical leaders will emerge to represent us all and one's race will no longer be the only thing that matters.

At least I hope that day will come. I just wish it would hurry up. This divisive crap is just crap.
    Ideas are what matters most.

And then we will start weeding out those that see politics as only a path of self enrichment.

Considering her district and the power that she wields in the House... You all are stuck with her until she dies.

I just dont see that as a possibility. We just hit the one year mark of this investigation and most claim we might have another year to go as far as Trump is concerned. There might be other indictments and such, but its probable Mueller has a bit more to go. I think he might not want to announce anything before November either because then some will say "its Comey all over again." So he is aware of that I am sure. Plus he isnt going to announce anything until its all done, he wont drop hints or even give status reports.

Yeah, I know. She's just like Hillary. Too divisive, because the Republicans don't like her.

This is what I am thinking... Impeaching before the result of the investigation makes no sense.

Even discussing impeachment makes no sense so long as there is no support in Congress for a conviction.

Pelosi may not be America's sweetheart, but she knows how to count votes.
    Thanks from Chief
