GOP Senators Urge McConnell to Cancel August Recess. They Have A Plan!

As many of you all know the LARGE-massive Omnibus spending bill only funded the US government until September.

Now GOP Senators are urging McConnell to cancel August break to avoid the disaster of a large funding bill right before mid-terms

The GOP's solution, pass 12 separate smaller funding bills so that the total cost is not as glaring a 1.3 Trillion spending bill.

10 100 Billion dollar spending bills does not sound as daunting 1.3 TRILLION.

That is the GOP for you, going the extra mile.

GOP senators to McConnell: Cancel the August recess

A group of Republican senators are urging Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) to cancel the August recess in order to catch up on funding the government and a backlog of nominees.

“We stand ready to work Mondays and Fridays, nights as well as weekends, to ensure the funding process is not used to jam the president with a bad spending deal,” more than a dozen GOP lawmakers wrote in the letter.

They added that they are even willing to "forgo the August recess" in order to make progress on funding legislation and nominations.

The letter is part of a broader effort by conservative senators, allied outside groups and even the White House to meet the Sept. 30 deadline to fund the government with 12 individual spending bills instead of another omnibus spending bill.
Trump railed against the last mammoth spending bill. Though he backed down from his veto threat, he also warned that he would not sign similar legislation.

Astounding how many people don't understand what a fiscal year is.

It was quite predictable that the phony deficit hawks of the Obama years would lose all interest in fiscal conservatism once a Republican became president. We saw it happen with Reagan and Bush, too. No reasonable people imagined those Republicans were being honest with their concern-trolling. But, even fully expecting it, it's still been breathtaking to watch just how quick, dramatic, and shameless their reversal has been. The very people who spent eight years feigning panic about deficits (even as deficits dropped by half) are on the front lines pushing for deficit-exploding upper-class tax cuts and obscene military spending hikes.

Yes the fiscal year...meaning the GOP Senate will have to spend Trillions more right before mid-term.

What I was not aware of is the GOP new plan to pass lots of smaller spending bills to hide the massive amounts they will spend.

I always feel better when I hear of a Government Shutdown. I am no fan of the establishment Republicans and their spending.

The GOP just needs to go ahead and grab the social security and Medicare trust funds and use them to pay down the debt, that way they can give the 1% even bigger tax cuts...after all, Trust Bunny Drones need that inheritance money tax free....but Lottery Winners should have their winnings taxed to the max, and swindled out of as much of what's left as possible by regulation free financial advisors that have no fears of being charged with malfeasance.
