Request for Trump to end the stonewalling of the DOJ

Didn't trump warn about the potential of having them declassified?

What do you think the DOJ could have that they are trying to keep from becoming public?

Yep! They have withheld too much for too long. They have also been busted redacting things that are embarrassing to the FBI / DoJ, but not National Security.

Congress has oversight and they are required to share the information requested.

Specifically what have they been denied? The DOJ allowed them to view some insanely classified stuff involving the identity of a source.

This is all a dog and pony show. They entire goal of the GOP on the committee has been to run interference for Trump. They refused to actually investigate Russia and have instead gone on a goose chase for trump. They make insane document requests just so they can paint the DOJ as uncooperative.

They dont even hide that they don’t care about the documents. Nunes never even bothers to read them.

"We're not going to just hold in contempt," Nunes said to Fox News last month. "We will have a plan to hold in contempt and to impeach."

Nunes had already been offered time to review a copy of the electronic communication formally authorizing the FBI's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, but he had publicly demanded to see what was behind certain blacked out lines.

Facing the growing pressure, and outrage from President Donald Trump, Rosenstein finally relented in early April -- and granted Nunes and Rep. Trey Gowdy of South Carolina access to the document with only minimal redactions to protect the name of a foreign country and agent, along with all members of the House Intelligence Committee.

But when the pair arrived at the Justice Department to review the electronic communication, officials were caught off-guard by his next move. Nunes -- sitting with a copy of the document in an unopened folder directly in front of him -- opted not to read it, according to four sources with knowledge of the situation.
As Nunes has moved aggressively to publicly sow doubt about the Russia investigation, the moment marked at least the second time that he has demanded sensitive documents from the Justice Department, only to choose not to read them -- allowing his staff or Gowdy to pore through the materials instead. The California Republican admitted in February that he did not read any applications under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act to monitor former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.

It’s so pathetically transparent. Nunes wants an excuse to try to hold Rosenstein in contempt. He doesn’t give a fuck about what the documents say, because they know they will not help him at all.

confusing letter. They acknowledge that Congress is a "separate and equal" branch of the government. In doing so , they're effectively admitting that they want the president to ignore the "separation of powers" doctrine. Presidents don't enforce Congressional subpoenas. Do they?

Why wouldn’t they just hold them in contempt? Why write this letter if not just for show?

Does the president even have the power to force the DOJ to turn over documents?

The house committee is going to be in the history books. And not for good reasons.

Trump cannot unilaterally declassify the stuff in this case, like he did the nunes memo sources.

However, now that the request was made, so, they are telling trump "look, these people aren't being reasonable, can you speed this up", so, this should allow trump to act where he otherwise would not have that authority.

oh, please. Three members of Congress can't authorize the president to engage in obstructing an investigation into himself. Get real. You don't actually believe for one second that they're fooling anyone.
