No need for Democrats to fear their progressive wing: join it, instead
    By Egberto Willies

"At least three-fifths of Americans support the following.

"A federally funded healthcare system that provides everyone with insurance.
"Unions should have the same or more influence than they have now.
    "Limits on campaign spending.
"Support for renewable energy and climate change.
    "Reproductive rights of women.
    "LGBT rights.
    "Higher minimum wage.
    "Legalized marijuana.
    "Free childcare.
"A path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants."
"Democrats will fix the health care issue once and for all with a single-payer Medicare for All system.
"Democrats will provide student loan relief.
"Democrats will provide need-based subsidized child care for anyone who wants to work.
"Democrats will decriminalize marijuana and treat drug use as the disease that it is.
"Democrats will make the criminal justice system live up to the "Justice is Blind" motto."
"Those five bullet points expressed in different terms will work in every district in America. It appeals to millennials, people of color, all working class people, parents, and every demographic in between. Most importantly these bullet points afford Americans a path to self-sufficiency It frees them from aberrations in the economy that stunts innovation, the inability to start one's business, and the dependency and the enslavement to the corporation."

That is a very well thought out Democratic Plan! Democrats can present those points as part of their platform from now on and since the majority of the country is on-board with those items it should not be hard to sell it to the American people who deserve far more than what they are currently (not) receiving under Republicans.

Do you think this will work in rural areas like WVA or North Dakota? Some feel moderate or conservative democrats are needed in these areas. Not sure if progressives can win in these areas.

Pretty sure they can't. Progressives need to embrace the much larger moderate wing of the party, unless they actually prefer continued Republican control of the government.

Yea thats how I feel as well. Also saw how Sanders progressive organization that is supposed to help candidates is failing. People arent responding to the progressive challengers in all places. Conor Lamb and Doug Jones werent progressives at all. In fact our local dem group is panicked that Sanders son is running for House rep here in NH, he is further left than his dad and they feel if he wins the primary, the seat will be lost.

Never say never. As people now see the ineptitude of the Do-Nothing Republicans to really help their bottom line they will be looking to Democrats to help save them with a much better workable plan. As for Democrats going into red territory and winning you need look no further than to Conor Lamb in Pennsylvania, Doug Jones in Alabama and others.

    Neither were progressives.
