It just did, yes. No idea what channel. I watch everything on-line anyway lol

    Anyway, this is funny, kinda:

Russian women should avoid sex with non-white foreign men during the World Cup because they could become single mothers to mixed-race children, a senior lawmaker in Moscow said on Wednesday.

Even when Russian women marry foreigners the relationships often end badly, said Tamara Pletnyova, head of parliament's committee for families, women and children. Women are often stranded abroad or in Russia but unable to get their children back, she said.

She spoke in response to a question from a radio station about the so-called "Children of the Olympics" after the Moscow Games in 1980, a time when contraception was not widely available in the country.

The term was used during the Soviet era to describe non-white children conceived at international events after relationships between Russian women and men from Africa, Latin America, or Asia. Many of the children faced discrimination.

"We must give birth to our children. These [mixed-race] kids suffer and have suffered since Soviet times," Pletnyova told Govorit Moskva radio station.

"It's one thing if they're of the same race but quite another if they're of a different race. I'm not a nationalist, but nevertheless I know that children suffer. They are abandoned, and that's it, they stay here with mum," she said.

Pletnyova said she that she would like Russian citizens to get married "out of love regardless of their ethnicity."

Another lawmaker said foreign fans could bring viruses to the World Cup and infect Russians.

In comments to Govorit Moskva radio station, Alexander Sherin also said Russians should be careful in their interactions with foreigners as they might try to circulate banned substances at the tournament.

Thousands of football fans from 31 countries are travelling to the World Cup in Russia that kicks off on Thursday with an opening ceremony in the capital followed by a match between the host team and Saudi Arabia.

FIFA and the Russia 2018 organising committee did not immediately respond to a request for comment about Pletynova's remarks.

Pletnyova is a lawmaker for the KPRF Communist Party, a nominally opposition party that backs President Vladimir Putin's Kremlin on most key issues.

Russians make up the majority ethnicity in the country but there are dozens of minority groups, as well as a large labour migrant force predominantly from Central Asia and the South Caucasus.

Russian police ordered to hide and cover up crime during World Cup, especially - crime against foreigners:

Russian police have been instructed not to publish their usual crime reports and instead share exclusively positive news during the month of the World Cup.

Reports of robbed and scammed tourists have multiplied in the run-up to the tournament as up to a million football fans plan to descend on the 11 Russian host cities. Regional outlets began reporting this week that local Interior Ministry press offices have been instructed to self-censor any news that could spark concern about crime rates.

“Suspend the publication in the media of the results of investigations and preventive measures between June 5 and July 25, 2018,” the Mediazona news website quoted a previously published regional Interior Ministry directive on Wednesday.

No regional Interior Ministry website has published its daily crime reports since June 6, the news outlet found in its examination of local websites.

There were 1,500 search results for the terms “detain,” “solve,” “wanted” or “Criminal Code” the week before; and 20 times fewer results between June 7 and June 13.

Police spokespeople in the Belgorod, Krasnodar and Tver regions confirmed the ‘no bad news’ trend to Mediazona, but did not directly attribute it to the June 14 to July 15 World Cup.

“We’re not breaking our heads about it. We write about things that could spark interest, things that are cheerful. We’re not making things up,” Belgorod region spokesman Alexei Goncharuk was quoted as saying.

In addition to the nationwide ban on negative news, Russian transportation workers are being taught to smile at foreign fans who may be less accustomed to the notoriously stone-faced demeanor many Russians consider typical.

Meanwhile, the Kremlin denied reports that it had asked Syria and Israel to cease hostilities for the duration of the World Cup, saying instead that it is Russia’s “permanent policy” to urge both sides to avoid escalation.

    Also:

Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, set free after a month behind bars for organizing opposition protests, reports that Moscow’s prisons have been refurbished to accommodate rowdy foreign World Cup fans.

Navalny was detained on May 5 and jailed a week later for holding mass rallies ahead of President Vladimir Putin’s inauguration. He walked free on Thursday, the day the Russian national football team kicks off the month-long tournament against Saudi Arabia in Moscow.

“Every cell had euroremont [euro-standard renovations],” Navalny wrote in an Instagram post Thursday announcing his release. “They placed goalposts in the exercise yard and handed out real footballs.”

In addition to installing toilet bowls and painting the prison bars, Navalny said cell blocks have been fitted with LCD screens for prisoners to watch World Cup matches.

Prison food “is now better than in restaurants,” with grilled meat kebabs as the main course and a “military school cadet who walks around handing out menus” as waiter.

English-speaking female students wearing outfits that were “a cross between police and flight attendant uniforms” have been hired as interpreters, Navalny said.

But for now, few World Cup fans have found themselves in the refurbished cell blocks. “Since there are no foreigners yet, the students are bored, they complain loudly and demand mass arrests to meet people,” he said.

    Fuck...

It didn’t take long for the first anti-gay attack at the World Cup in Russia. Even before the first match — featuring anti-LGBTQ nations Russia and Saudi Arabia — kicked off, a gay French couple had been sent to the hospital in St. Petersburg after being viciously attacked.

    O. Davrius and his partner, whose name we cannot find, had traveled to Russia to cheer on their beloved French National Team, according to Pink News. The couple was attacked, beaten and robbed. Davrius was sent to the hospital with possible brain injuries.

Two suspects have been arrested, thankfully.

While the Sochi Winter Olympics seemed to be void of these kinds of attacks, many people warned about them headed into the World Cup with its varied host cities and a militant organization publicly threatening to hunt down gay fans and attack them.

There are lots of people to blame for this, but at the top of mind is FIFA. The organization has routinely ignored warnings about civil-rights violations and has clearly not provided sufficient assurances that all fans would be protected in a host country known for its vicious attacks against LGBTQ people.

And in four years the World Cup will be hosted in a country — Qatar — where homosexuality is flat-out illegal.

We hope everyone in Russia will stay safe. At this point, no one could recommend LGBTQ fans and athletes in Russia for the World Cup do anything but proactively hide their sexual orientation or gender identity in public. FIFA and the Russian government cannot protect you.

An LGBT Russian group has set up a safety hotline for those who feel threatened.

Additionally,a British gay activist was arrested on Red Square for holding a protest sign, hours ago: Brit gay activist detained in Moscow

He's been released now, but will have to attend court in Russia (before can leave the country, I presume, I believe that is how it works there...)

I am so sick of the homophobic crap there...

    Congrats on your massive win!

And until baseball, American football and basketball go the way of buggy whips, I am afraid the US will always suck at soccer, or football as the rest of the world calls it.

    MAGA, baby, MAGA!

    Funny sarcasm lol

It is still big for Russia though. They really haven't won much in football in a long time... Even winning on bloody Saudis is rare treat for the folks there...
