Your prediction turned out to be incorrect.

    The whole thing?

Germany, Brazil, France are the faves.

Spain is number 4 at 7-1.

Portugal is number 8 at 20-1.

But no one knows, that's why they play the games.

Panama and Saudi Arabia biggest dogs at 1000-1

We shall see. I will probably cheer for Brazil, because it's my wife's country lol And you better believe she and her whole family are rooting madly for their homeland right now haha I told her, after Russia gets knocked out, then I will cheer with them I don't reckon it'll take long. Just because they beat the Saudis, who suck, as you said, doesn't mean they are really any good, unfortunately...

To be fair, as the vid notes, closer to the Center, the posh, touristy areas, most Metro stations DO have all their signs doubled in English, at this point. But, yeah, outside that zone, it gets hard if you don't know Russian.

We were out last night having a meal. We could see the TV through in the other room and when we left, it was 2-1 to Spain.

Would have preferred Portugal to have won, a draw was not a bad result. Some sports get boring when the same old happens, better when the underdogs win or give them a good run for their money.

If you put a quid on Iran at the bookies and they win the WC, you get 1,001 back.

    "Iceland beats Argentina 1-1!"

That's what the announcer said on American TV at the end of their game, but what do we Americans know?

It does sound hilariously dumb but he could have meant it as a joke, in which case it might have been quite clever. As in, it is a huge accomplishment for Iceland not to lose to Argentina. Just like one of our (usually dumb) commentators said: "Messi is coming at two Icelanders, so they are seriously outnumbered here."

@The Man does "Zabivaka" mean anything? Is it a wolf or what?
Thanks from The Man and Dangermouse

He is a wolf, I believe, yes

The name means the one who scores or kick in (zabivaet) the goals

He was designed by Ekaterina Bocharova

a student from Tomsk, in Siberia, where wolves are a perfectly familiar animal, and some even keep them as pets

Bocharova's design won against two other finalists: a cosmonaut tiger and I don't even know what the thing on the very left is, a red fox, possibly

I believe she got a nice financial reward, and it made her famous too, she even got to appear on Ivan Urgant's show, Russia's Jimmy Fallon or Kimmel

    lol

Anyhow, yes, Argentina vs. Iceland 1-1, shockingly, can't believe Messi missed: Argentina vs. Iceland final score: Lionel Messi misses penalty kick to win game, underdogs hold on for historic draw

And France beat Australia 2-1: World Cup: Australia loses 2-1 to France after Socceroos give tournament contenders massive scare - FIFA World Cup - Russia 2018 - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

Iceland are such underdogs compared to Argentina, getting a point (draw) is classed as a win!!
