In 11 states, to be precise, and the stringency of those laws vary greatly from state to state.

But parents in these cases are never charged. There are no laws about weapons in the home.

But, this happened in California so the charges will depend on race, ethnicity, and legal status.
That's just a silly prejudicial comment.

But, .... they should be charged.
We read about cases like this all the time--I've never read about a gun owner being charged in a similar case. I know someone whose 16-year-old son killed himself with one of their many guns. They owned a gun safe but just didn't use it. They were never charged.

    I know right ....

I have been advocating for years that the US needs to confiscate firearms from all Democrats.

Laws about securing guns usually apply only when those guns are being transported--not when they are simply in one's home.
They don't know the gun laws because we expect them to inform themselves. Some States have language like this in their gun laws and often find out the hard way. A friend of mine is married to a guy with kids who live with them. The ex wife called social services on them and when they inspected the house, they found a dusty air rifle under the beds of one of the kids. She didn't even know it was there. It caused a BIG stink for them because by law guns are to be stored safely in a house with kids.

Sounds like John considers this to be an open and shut case of Darwinian natural selection.

    Interesting!

The parents need to be charged with some sort of negligence.

You don't need a "gun safe" to safely store a gun.

I know!! I was yelled at for this at the range. It hurt my feelings because the guy was so harsh about it.

That would be you ..... and, your opinion.

And, in many states 16 year olds can legally possess a firearm.
