    Violence is a deliberate act.

You don't need a "gun safe" to safely store a gun.
    No ....

But, you do have to have them secured.

You can't store a gun safely if it's loaded. I don't know what use is an unloaded gun for home protection.

Yes you can. How you got to that conclusion "you can't", I have no clue?

Here's yet another very tragic occurrence concerning guns. America has not yet learned to keep dangerous weapons like that out of a child's sight and reach. There is absolutely no excuse for this innocent child dying. Absolutely None!
    Only in America.

You can store them safely for home protection, you just need to store them without the magazine in them. It just takes a few seconds to pop in the magazine. You also do not want to store them with one in the chamber...this is how many of these accidents happen. They have one in the pipe ready to go. Again, it takes a second to put one in the chamber.

It's shocking how ignorant these folks can be about firearms.

Don't say purposefully stupid things please. It's nothing but flame-baiting.
The question is whether or not the parents were negligent possible criminally so. The storage of the firearm was just HOW they were negligent.
