Uh huh.... Again, I'm fine with pardoning these ranchers.

FBI surprises again, shares files on Bill Clinton pardon of Marc Rich

...Rich, who died in 2013, was a financier who fled to Switzerland after being indicted on multiple federal charges, including tax evasion, in 1983. Clinton's motive for pardoning Rich on his last day in office was questioned because Rich's ex-wife, Denise Rich, was a wealthy Democratic donor who made a $450,000 donation to Clinton's presidential library foundation and more than $100,000 to Hillary Clinton's Senate campaign...

    Yes, it is.

I'm not arguing that was the Hammond's reason, but it is considered an invasive species and is toxic to horses and other animals.

So, it's not really dangerous to cattle unless they are so underfed or hungry they will eat something that would not eat normally?

It is if it gets mixed into grains/contaminated seed, even in part. But otherwise, yes if the animal can avoid it, it will.

    So, what's your problem?
Nobody claimed it was invasive because it was poisoness.

    Irrelevant bullshit by you.

I think this is what bothers me about the pardon:

"The Hammonds are devoted family men, respected contributors to their local community and have widespread support from their neighbours, local law enforcement and farmers and ranchers across the West," the White House said in statement on Tuesday announcing their full pardon.

Why is there no explanation about why the sentence was wrong besides "they're good people"? Nothing about changing the law to make it harder for judges to retroactively increase the sentence, nothing about the crime and whether it deserved the sentence it got, just a nod to these people are the good guys and they shouldn't be expected to suffer the same overreach by law enforcement that the rest of us do.

That's bullshit. I'm sure if Trump wanted to roll back police state tactics, three strikes your out and mandatory minimums for everybody, he could get cooperation from Democrats, but he doesn't. He just wants HIS peeps to be exempted from this shit.

Fuck that. There's plenty of people unfairly convicted and doing excessive sentences in the this country that are decent people and deserve justice but if they don't fly the right colors, they don't get a break.

We had one mare who would gingerly eat it like candy and never showed a symptom. That's when I took a flamer to the pastures to get rid of it, because I knew it was only a matter of time.

Star thistle produces one of the best honeys which is probably a factor in it's invasiveness. Beekeepers love it.

And in the case of the Hammonds, even I didn't like the way the sentence was retroactively increased, but this does nothing to rein in that kind of judicial overreach. In fact I'd say it encourages it because Trump is willing to excuse for certain people. As long as overly harsh laws don't apply to them, why not create more of them?
