The story actually has more to do with the makers of infant formula attempting to block a resolution affirming the importance of breast feeding. It seems Ecuador first introduced the resolution, then, under duress, retracted it. Russia, more powerful than Ecuador, re introduced the resolution.

That a corporation could place profits over the health of babies is totally reprehensible.

The primary scientific issue according to WHO, backed by a fairly broad scientific consensus, is that infants fed exclusively on breast milk for the first six months of their life face improved health outcomes. Critics of the breast milk substitute industry contend that those companies use aggressive and potentially illegal marketing tactics that encourage mothers to abandon breastfeeding in favor of commercial products. A February 2018 investigation published by the Guardian provided one example of this sort of practice:

There are the extreme cases too: Mum breastfeeds her five-year-old daughter before and after school claiming it stops her kids getting ill

    lmao

No, but, I will say this, it is healthier for a baby than any artificial crap. My own wife breastfeeds, did our first and now the second one as well. My mother, she also did for my older brothers, but, she had fucking eight of us overall, six boys and two girls, no joke, and by the time me and then the youngest came about, she basically had no milk of her left. We were both breastfed by other women, friends of hers. And their kids are my "milk brothers" and sisters now haha Awesome, eh?

Mothers in first world countries, where safe drinking water is the norm, have begun to understand that breast feeding is healthier than formula. How much more true must that be in third world countries where safe drinking water is a luxury? Mix up that formula with water from the nearest river, give it to the baby, then wonder why the kid has diarrhea, then doesn't thrive due to being eaten up with parasites.
