Well, yes and no. Human females certainly do NOT need their ENLARGED breasts for breastfeeding! Do gorillas or chimpanzee females have enlarged breasts? No. Do they breastfeed? Of course.

Human females have enlarged breasts because they serve as a sexual lure for the unwitting male of the species. Really, they serve NO OTHER anatomical function. Most anthropologists believe they evolved when humans first began walking bipedally and shifted to frontal mating.

Heh. I am a long-time subscriber to the weekly British magazine New Scientist. One week they ran an article on the eating and mating habits of the Great Tit, pictured above. The headline they chose for their article accurately described the content of the article and was most amusing, exhibiting that very British sense of humor that I also frequently see in The Economist. The headline read:

Great Tits Prefer Food To Sex

It is an observation that I believes holds true in the human race, as well...….

Infant mortality rates interest most humans.

Promoting formula in impoverished countries is promoting death. No refrigeration. Inadequate sterilization tools. Formula overwatered to stretch it farther. Polluted water.

O yes. Nestle is the leader of the pack of death merchants in this controversy.

Kindly consider boycotting that company's products.

I've been boycotting their products for YEARS. A few decades, even. They've been doing this for that long.

Why don't these countries ban Nestle?

Sexual selection, then, like the peacock's tail. That does make sense. It's more accurate to say, "That's what nipples are for."

It all depends on which, if either, you're not getting.

No, but, I will say this, it is healthier for a baby than any artificial crap. My own wife breastfeeds, did our first and now the second one as well. My mother, she also did for my older brothers, but, she had fucking eight of us overall, six boys and two girls, no joke, and by the time me and then the youngest came about, she basically had no milk of her left. We were both breastfed by other women, friends of hers. And their kids are my "milk brothers" and sisters now haha Awesome, eh?
Breast milk is by far healthier than formula. It transfers natural immunity from Mother to child and it promotes a strong maternal bond with her child. I am surprised this is a issue, most women are well informed these days about the benefits of breast feeding regardless of any propaganda or promotions of formula.

It can get a little weird tho...I worked with a woman who breast fed a child at 4 years old. The toddler would literally help himself to her breast. I have heard of women sharing and even selling breast milk...would you allow your baby to drink breast milk from a person you did not know?

It was a VERY common practice in older days----they even had a name for women who were not the mother who were breastfeeding, that is escaping me at the moment.....maybe someone else will remember.....Oh, wait, a wet-nurse.
