China orders media to limit criticism of Trump

    Anyone else find this odd?

China has reportedly issued refreshed guidelines to its media ordering outlets not to attack President Trump.

Sources in Chinese state media told Reuters that the government is concerned about negative coverage of the president further inflaming the trade conflict between the two countries. “When exposing and criticizing American words and actions, be careful not to link it to Trump and instead to aim it at the U.S. government,” a memo based on verbal instructions from government officials read.

Sources at other state-run news agencies told Reuters that they were instructed not to report on whether the trade war is negatively affecting Chinese businesses. On Tuesday, Trump hit China with an additional round of tariffs valued at roughly $200 billion, on top of the $34 billion in products that were targeted just days ago.

I see two things, or maybe both are being considered. First, we all know Dot Don takes criticism very personally and tends to react strongly and unthinkingly. But also, Xi is playing the long game and one way or another, Dot Don will be gone. But this way that won't take the pressure off the US. JMO.

Odd? Nah... it's China. It's a Leftist Authoritarian government. It's how it goes.

Clearly Trump is important to them, so this is a good sign.

finding it odd that a government is trying to tell the press what and how to report ? IN today's US ?
    Not a bit.
It's what trump is doing all day long, just that so far, he does not have the legal and executive power to enforce his will. That's different in China.

It is not that Trump is good for them. it is that the Chinese are very reactionary with their money. If they feel there is crisis coming, they will go to the mattresses.

Hoarding their money and causing economic stagnation.

In 2015 China moved away from investment and infrastructure building to drive the economy. Now its consumerism.

A secret deal has been made between the two countries? To release a most wanted person used to be a chip in deal with totalitarian countries.

Back to totalitarianism! I had such hopes for China. What a shame they are going down this road.

Protect Trump from journalists' criticism in China? I wonder if he negotiated this prize.

Did he agree to abandon Taiwan to protect his ego, do you think?

    Or Japan?

... in reference to a Rightist Authoritarian government. The key being that authoritarians do not care about other authoritarians' internal policies.
