Huh? What kind of a STUPID question is that first question?!?? Monetary STIMULUS was the very LAST thing you would have wanted in the early 1980s!!! Do you NOT understand that the problem back then was high INFLATION?!?!??

Back then, what you needed was a major monetary CONTRACTION, and by GOD, that's exactly what Paul Volcker DID, and THAT'S what broke the back of the inflationary spiral that we had gotten ourselves into in the late 1970s! It was Paul Volcker, and NOT Ronald Reagan, who vanquished inflation! I DO so hope you understand that!!

He did?!? Why, MILLIONS of Americans gained access to healthcare who simply did NOT have it before. MOST folks would call that a step in the right direction. I guess you think it's better when FEWER Americans can get the healthcare they need.

    That is just plain WEIRD!

This is kind of a BS poll just in its design. It asks people living today who is the best president of their lifetime, but those lifetimes started in maybe 1925 and the youngest were born in 2000. Those are different lifetimes. Not that many people can say FDR anymore. The Bushs' absence from the list is notable, though.

I really don't remember much about Reagan's economic and tax policies. I was in college and really didn't care. LOL I remember my Dad growling around about Reagan. Reagan cut a lot of deductions the middle class needed. He paid for my tuition and basically was able to write off my car, mileage, books, my Moms uniforms, etc. All of that went away and he stopped getting refunds and started to write checks in April when that happened.

My favorite was Clinton...not the man, but the POTUS. During his time, it seemed like everyone was doing well. People were buying houses, good jobs, cars were selling, etc. You were almost guaranteed a good job right out of college. All one had to do was just put the word out and you would have 3 recruiters calling you directly asking for a interview. At least this was my perception during his Admin. I sickened me to watch his scandal unfold, I lost respect, but he did do a good job in spite of all that.

Reagan inherited a bad economy, too, but it was a very DIFFERENT kind of 'bad economy' than what Obama inherited. Reagan inherited an economy with high inflation, and we KNOW how to stop high inflation: just stop printing so much money, stupid! And that is exactly what Paul Volcker was ALREADY doing, as Reagan took office. Obama inherited a world economy on the verge of a deflationary collapse, very similar to the Great Depression of the 1930s. MUCH MUCH tougher to get out of.
Quick question here. The "Great Recession" officially ended in June of 2009, about six months after Pes. Obama took office. Was that because of actions that he took, or was it related to actions that were taken before he became the president?

[QUOTE=Minotaur;5977945]I think this exposes age differences. The older retired people may have split their vote between Bush and Reagan for conservatives. Middle age may have gone more for Clinton and Obama. The younger ones polled for Obama at over 60%.

The key is that they rated within their own lifetime. Interesting poll.[/QUO

This one, without a doubt. Then Clinton and Obama. Both well above average.
