Charts: Trump is the target of historic voter backlash ahead of the 2018 midterms
New data shows Trump is a bigger election drag on his party than Obama ever was.
    By Dylan Scott

"The Trump antipathy is, unsurprisingly, driving Democratic voters to the polls. According to Pew, 61 percent of Democratic voters said their vote would be a vote against Trump. That is notably higher than the percentage of Republican voters who said their vote was a vote against Obama in 2010 (54 percent) and 2014 (51 percent) when the GOP made major gains in Congress, retaking the House and then the Senate."
"This tracks with recent enthusiasm Democrats have seen in special elections around the country, showing a high level of turnout for relatively low-profile races — even in some deep-red districts."

While Trump still has his supporters Trump has done more to re-energize Democrats than any other man in the White House before. Democrats are so looking forward to the Midterm elections for one and then the Big One in 2020. They are certainly not pleased with all they are seeing Trump do in America and the deep divisions he is causing among so many. The Trump tariffs and the big cost to American businesses is also a very big concern and factor they are considering as they go to the polls. So, for every bad there is a good and the good thing is that Democrats are now quite animated and jumping at the chance to trounce Republicans this November and bring back sanity to American politics.

The rallies say different. I am not buying what the Left leaning media is selling. I will be surprised if the Republicans don't retain both Congressional bodies.

Huh. Even the Republican Senate is turning against Trump. Two MAJOR rebukes of Trump coming from the Senate in the past two days. Yesterday, the 97-2 vote confirming the importance of our commitment to the NATO alliance. And today, an 88-11 vote disapproving of Trump's linkage of national security to his tariffs imposed against our ALLIES.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Some allies, way under spending on NATO.

But money is what’s at the crux of the American irritation with Europe. When I started my career in the Dutch navy four decades ago, NATO had just 15 members, and the U.S. accounted for 50 percent of all defense spending. Now we have 29 members, but the U.S. spends around 72 percent of NATO’s total defense budget.

Too many European governments have been complacent about the ongoing security threats. Even after the Russian annexation of Crimea in 2014, some continued to make cuts to their military budgets.

I wouldn't suggest becoming overconfident. It's not an effective tactic where elections are concerned.
