Again: I was not comparing deserts to forests.

I simply making the point that deserts absorb carbon dioxide.

No it is the mark of Leroy actually, because you certainly prefer to remain ignorant. But at least I got to teach you something and you now know deserts actually absorb carbon dioxide. So it wasn't a total waste of my time...

The linked article itself says, "Deserts won’t be capable of absorbing as much CO2 as forest ecosystems . . ."

That is correct. Forests would absorb more due to all the organic matter.

But that doesn't change the fact that deserts still absorb carbon dioxide - so they do not emit tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere and cause the earth to warm as was being claimed... which again was my actual point.

But of course having been proved wrong they have to try and move the goal posts and pretend I was saying something I never was instead of being a man about it and just admitting they were wrong.

    Global warming isn't happening.
Okay it's happening, but we didn't cause it.
Okay we caused it but there's nothing we can do to change it.
Okay there is something we could do to change it but it will be too difficult and probably won't work.
Okay it will probably work but it will take hundreds of years and the only benefit will be saving humanity from the worst effects of ecological collapse so that civilization can continue.
    Thanks from BigLeRoy

NO ONE in this thread claimed that deserts were emitting tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. No one. So now Jeremy is simply resorting to LYING about what has been said in this thread.

In response to someone who gave a reason why forests are preferable to deserts. Instead of simply agreeing, you decided to play dumb and say "But I thought your theory was that carbon dioxide going into our atmosphere was what was so bad? If that is the case, wouldn't deserts be a good thing since they are absorbing carbon dioxide and preventing it from going into the atmosphere?"

If you agree that forests are preferable to deserts for absorbing CO2 then why say this? (rhetorical—I know why)

Yes, that was actually what was being said - that the deserts were contributing to global warming. That's what prompted my comment.

You're the one playing dumb actually - because the whole point was that deserts were bad for global warming when in fact they actually aren't.

Yes, I actually learned that deserts might be able to absorb some amount of CO2 in the future, and that IS useful knowledge. But you will go away from this thread still thinking that there is NOTHING the human race can do to affect the Earth's climate, and so will remain in your deliberately chosen state of deep ignorance.....even though you've been given a link that would enable you to overcome it, IMMEDIATELY.

    That's ASTONISHING, Jeremy!!

Benjamin Franklin: "Being ignorant is not so much a shame, as being unwilling to learn."
    Thanks from StanStill
