(On its face, this seems excessive. But that wording from the article stood out to me.)
Nice catch. They should have said preteen. That means the reality was worse than what the article portrayed.
    Thanks from Ian Jeffrey

I meant, whether teen or pre-teen. But yours works, too.

Not the mention that, from the video, while she did not appear to be an itty-bitty child, she still looked like an adolescent/pre-teen. Granted, all you can really see is her back, but she's clearly not adult-sized.

All the more reason for her NOT to be stealing Skittles! She just doesn't NEED that much nutrition!!

Add to that the hiring pool likely getting smaller requiring standards to be lowered to accommodate LEOs who resign or retire. Its a vicious cycle...

I think it is more the KIND of people we are recruiting to be on our police forces, than it is the kind of training we are giving to them. I am pretty confident that we are NOT training them to go around tasing 11-year-old girls for stealing Skittles.

Yeah, he was just giving her a dose of tough love.

No, but I believe that cops are being trained to be afraid of everything and everyone and that their lives are in constant danger.

I suspect that it's a military influence crossing over into civilian police work. That would be okay, if the civilians in the US actually were law enforcements' enemies.

    We're not supposed to be.

It's them. When I was a kid it was them and us. Now it's them vs us.

Our priorities within the same community are vastly different, unfortunately.
Thanks from Ian Jeffrey and bajisima
