Is Anonymous a Terrorist Group?

So last night I was thinking I'd settle in for the night and play a video game against a friend of mine, unfortunately that was squashed because the network was down. So I get into work today and find out what caused the crash:

So I decide to look into this group a bit and I'm kind of shocked to find how capable they are, from wiki:

On the weekend of 5–6 February 2011, Aaron Barr, the chief executive of the security firm HBGary Federal, announced that his firm had successfully infiltrated the Anonymous group, and although he would not hand over details to the police, he would reveal his findings at a later conference in San Francisco. In retaliation for Aaron Barr's claims, members of the group Anonymous hacked the website of HBGary Federal and replaced the welcome page with a message stating that Anonymous should not be messed with, and that the hacking of the website was necessary to defend itself. Using a variety of techniques, including social engineering and SQL injection,[122] Anonymous also went on to take control of the company's e-mail, dumping 68,000 e-mails from the system, erasing files, and taking down their phone system.[123] The leaked emails revealed the reports and company presentations of other companies in computer security such as Endgame systems who promise high quality offensive software, advertising "subscriptions of $2,500,000 per year for access to 0day exploits".[124]
Among the documents exposed was a PowerPoint presentation entitled “The Wikileaks Threat,” put together by HBGary Federal along with two other data intelligence firms for Bank of America in December.[125] Within the report, these firms created a list of important contributors to WikiLeaks; they further developed a strategic plan of attack against the site. As TechHerald explains, "the plan included pressing a journalist in order to disrupt his support of the organization, cyber attacks, disinformation, and other potential proactive tactics." The report specifically claims that Glenn Greenwald’s support was key to WikiLeaks' ongoing survival.[126][127][128]
Anonymous also personally attacked Aaron Barr by taking control of his Twitter account, posting Mr Barr's supposed home address and social security number.[129]
In response to the attacks, founder of HBGary Federal, Greg Hoglund, responded to journalist Brian Krebs, "They didn't just pick on any company, we try to protect the US Government from hackers. They couldn't have chosen a worse company to pick on."[129] After the attacks, Anonymous continued to clog up HBGary Federal fax machines, and made threatening phone calls.[130]

Yes it's cyber terror. I am just not sure if it is a covert operation of our making or the Chinese. They certainly are not thinking big enough which would lead me to believe that they are a young group.

They haven't done much in the way of terrorism but make a few threats. On the other hand those of us in the Silver Liberation Army are clobbering JP.

Your welcome, your welcome very much!

I am interested in seeing how that plays out.

It isn't that the SLA and Anonymous are terrorists, the bankers and fed boards are the terrorists here. Counter revolution is a good thing if done peaceably.

Look at this graph, the scum have stopped silver transactions. I think they will try to build up JP's share prices because they have contracts to meet, and their naked shorts will break them if at the time that the contracts are due show higher than their share price. They fired the first shot and they will pay, get your money out of the banks. Next thing I will see is a thread entitled "Is michaelr A Terrorist" and I do not want that.

Lets not put the terrorist label where it does not belong and allow the real terrorists to have a free pass.

    here is your enemy terrorist.

If this turns out to be true I'm going with terrorist group:

It appears that hacking group Anonymous has stepped up its campaign against Sony, just a day after it successfully attacked and brought down PlayStation.com and Sony.com after claiming that what Sony is doing in their lawsuit against GeoHot is wrong.
The hacking group has apparently spawned a little team calling themselves "SonyRecon", according to PlayStation LifeStyle. Said team have begun finding out information about Sony employees, as this post, made by a member, shows:
"Ok I made a chan #sonyrecon for people to gather and contribute dox, and work towards a common goal of finding and information and detailing useful targets. Some one got the phone number of the head of the Sony company in #sonyrecon."
Sony's Group Executive of Sony Corporation has also been targeted, with his family history being released onto the Internet for public viewing -- which includes information such as his home address, education, marital status and whether or not he has children.
Also, one rather disturbing comment which was discovered saw an Anonymous member complaining “No one found ANY info on Stringer's kids?” Howard Stringer is the CEO of Sony Corporation.
SonyRecon's supposed founder and leader, "randomtask", told members that "Sony, the judge and Sony's lawyers are all valid targets."
It's also been reported that Sony's lawyers had their official website taken down also, although the site seems fine now.

Mike this is specifically about the hacker group Anonymous, which I believe may be a terrorist organization operating in the United States, conducting operations right now. When they took down the PSN they were "cyber terrorists", which is a way to say they just try to bully consumers into accepting their ideology, but when the target individuals and their families I think they cross the line. One crime doesn't diminish the impact of another.

These so called terrorists haven't done much, and I do not see them as such. I thought they were going to break the backs of some banks yet failed to produce. If they were legit, then i would call them counter terrorists, they warned the banks to back down.

I read your articles a couple of times, my take is that this is hype. I am not sure but they seem to want to support Wiki"leaks"? Is that right?
