    When lynching is justified

30 year old Moscow resident Aleksandr Maksimov

He chose to get drunk and drive his white Toyota, and ended up crashing into a crowded bus stop

At the time of the crash. he was moving at 190 km/hour.

He killed 7 people, all of them youths between 14 and 16 years old. Now he is in hospital under police guard, and will be arrested as soon as the doctors pronounce him healthy enough.

Moreover, it is now known that he had previously had his driving permit suspended for drunk driving.

Every year, although things have greatly improved, 900 children are killed on Russian roads.

As many of the comments on the article comment boards say, the bastard deserves death. In fact, in previous cases families of children injured or killed in road accidents in Russia, not satisfied with official punishments to the criminals, took their own bloody revenge.

One case, recent, from July. In a town near Krasnoyarsk, Siberia, a little boy was hit by a car and injured. The boy's mother figured the driver will not get much of a sentence in court. So, she instead conspired with her lover, the kid's step father, a previously convicted man with extensive ties in the criminal world. First, she got the step-dad and his buddies to beat 50,000 rubles (divide by 30 for dollar figure) out of the man, to pay for her boy's medical treatments and such. Then, still not happy, she had them take him to a remote lake beach and kill him in front of her. They then threw the corpse into the lake.

I am not saying I approve of this. I lived in Canada long enough to no longer think like that, like most Russians think. But, I understand it. I would want to hurt that fucker in the first article too, especially since Russian law is still very weak on drunk drivers. This is why many people say, as in the comments: bring back the death penalty for drunk drivers who cause death, especially death of children. I am beginning to think that is not a bad idea, especially in Russia.

See you in a new existence!
So you do believe in the death penalty.

In the US, the drinking laws are much tougher. I know of one person who got 20 years for hitting three parked cars while DUI. Even though no one was hurt, it was his 3rd offense. He got out recently after serving 10 years. I don't know if his being Native American had anything to do with, IMO, an overly long sentence. His sister is serving a similar sentence also for DUI.

    The Man,

I understand alcoholism is a very serious problem in Russia -- more so than any where else in the world. Is that so?

Jail may have allowed him to live longer. Alcoholism among American Natives is a tragedy and always has been.

In Russia, drunk drivers are a huge problem, they damage other cars, hurt and kill people... People there are really pissed off at drunk drivers now

They almost kicked him to death. The civilians, that is. The cops actually saved him, pretty much lol Maybe shouldn't have, maybe would have been one less scumbag in this world.

Well, Russia is on par with other Slavic countries as far as I know. Ukraine actually has a higher under-age drinking rate right now.

Here in Canada, natives/Aboriginals have the same issue. Here, part of it is believed to be due to the psychological, sexual, and physical abuse many of them suffered in the residential schools.

Some cultures have no history of alchohol and therefore have little tolerance for it.

This includes Native Americans and Pacific Islanders.

You have never seen drunk until you have seen Samoan drunk.

My best friend was murdered because of drunk driving, his own.

He got his 5th DWI and the cops threatened him with a 5 year mandatory minimum or he could become a meth narc for them...

Well, they found him shot on the side of the road and with his throat cut.

Two weeks later they caught up with the murderers in Las Vegas with my friend's pick-up truck and bloody clothes under the seat.

    They murdered him for $200.

This has left his family devasteted, my friend had 4 sons and a huge family.

I myself understand how wrong drunk driving is, my friend could have plowed into a whole family and deserved the time he was given.

But putting these folks into harm's way and making them a narc is no solution, they are not trained for that.

    Thx :/
