He said as a Cuban immigrant he was set straight by an older Cuban police officer and he wanted her to do the same..
Well, saddling her with jail time and worsening her criminal record seems like an odd way to do it, when originally all she'd apparently done was abuse prescription drugs, a rather venal offense, in my opinion. (and apparently it was xanax. what am i missing here? why would anyone abuse an antidepressant?)

basically because of this judge's actions this woman will now be saddled with a criminal record and will find it basically impossible to get a decent job, probably for the rest of his life. a rather odd way to get set straight, if you ask me. if it had been me i would have suspended the sentence and tried to get this girl into a drug treatment program, but maybe that's why i'm not a judge.

you know what my guess is? this guy kinda just gets off on screwing up people's lives. and the fact that this was a young, attractive girl probably added to the thrill for him. total guess on my part but i think that sort of thing goes on with judges more often than you think. they get off on the power.

You're right, but when injustice or abuse is going on it has to be called out, in a courtroom, at work, in the White House. If nobody stands up for people being shit on, then they will shit wherever they want more often and closer to your living room..

I know I'm in the minority here, I hear it all the time from my peeps that I'm crazy...

honestly, i think she should sue the judge for violating her first amendment rights.
It is contempt of court, that doesn't fall under first amendment rights, am I correct?

Judges can be arrogant jerks that wantg everybody to kiss their ass, and if you are smart you should. After the first smart ass comment she should of known the judge wasn't taking any shit. You say please and thank you and curse him out later while you are not in court

Something else that bothers me: if you watch the clip, the local news anchors don't even bother to try and be objective. they flagrantly side with the judge against the kid. so much for the fourth estate protecting the people from excessive exercise of government power.

They would arrest you and put you before that dumb ass judge for abusing the 911 option.. the judge of course will supoport the officer without reading any notes on the case...

I'm on the judge's side. Comtempt of court is what it sounds like, and she earned it. Sometimes you just gotta keep your mouth shut, and in court is one of those times. She can have all the first ammendment she likes when she gets out of the court room.

It is contempt of court and whether the judge is a flaming ass or not the First amendment will not protect the little missy.

If the First Amendment doesn't protect people from telling off someone in the government then what's the point of it?

    Thanks from Mertex
