Pentagon May Court Martial Soldiers Who Share Christian Faith

Obama continues to show he is not Christian. The fiest amenment says we have the free exercise of religion and Obama wants to take that away

Why does Weinstein have so much influence with Hagel? This is just wrong and needs to be stopped

Pentagon May Court Martial Soldiers Who Share Christian Faith

The Pentagon has released a statement confirming that soldiers could be prosecuted for promoting their faith: "Religious proselytization is not permitted within the Department of Defense...Court martials and non-judicial punishments are decided on a case-by-case basis...”.

The statement, released to Fox News, follows a Breitbart News report on Obama administration Pentagon appointees meeting with anti-Christian extremist Mikey Weinstein to develop court-martial procedures to punish Christians in the military who express or share their faith.

(From our earlier report: Weinstein is the head of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, and says Christians--including chaplains--sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ in the military are guilty of “treason,” and of committing an act of “spiritual rape” as serious a crime as “sexual assault.” He also asserted that Christians sharing their faith in the military are “enemies of the Constitution.”)

Being convicted in a court martial means that a soldier has committed a crime under federal military law. Punishment for a court martial can include imprisonment and being dishonorably discharged from the military.

So President Barack Obama’s civilian appointees who lead the Pentagon are confirming that the military will make it a crime--possibly resulting in imprisonment--for those in uniform to share their faith. This would include chaplains—military officers who are ordained clergymen of their faith (mostly Christian pastors or priests, or Jewish rabbis)--whose duty since the founding of the U.S. military under George Washington is to teach their faith and minister to the spiritual needs of troops who come to them for counsel, instruction, or comfort.

What an utter load of shit. So the pentagon is going to start charging chaplain's for sharing their christian faith and imprisoning them? Do you ever even bother to read and think about some of the ridiculous shit you post on here? I like how you take it a step further and say it shows how Obama is not a christian, you really need help.

The democrats need help since they are making this regulation. This goes through Hagel which means Obama approves it or it would not happen

The "utter load of shit" is the use of one's military office to promote a particular religion. This isn't one private talking to another private; it's Generals in the Pentagon disseminating proselytizing literature amongst the troops in a clear violation of the Establishment Clause. It's also been done at the Air Force Academy to put pressure - including peer pressure - on cadets who are not Christians.

And nothing about this "proves" President Obama is not Christian. He knows it is illegal and unconstitutional to use one's government office - including military offices - to promote a particular religion. He respects the law, and does not use his power (or allow like use of power by his subordinates) to violate it. The same cannot be said for the officers (commissioned and noncommissioned) who pressure troops to convert from some other religion, including other Christian sects, to fundamentalist Christianity.

I have personal experience with such proselytizing events as mandatory attendance at fundamentalist Christian prayer breakfasts, so don't try and tell me it doesn't happen. I know better, Breitbart and other like sites aside (the only ones who care to run the "story").

It is unconstitutional to stop the free exercise of religion as the Obama administration is trying to do here

There's a big difference between living and practicing your faith, and using your position to aggressively attempt to convert others to it.

And the latter occurs far too often. It's about time that all religions saw equal protection under the law; Christians should be free to be Christians, Jews to be Jews, Hindus to be Hindus, and Muslims to be Muslims. And the last thing they should have to worry about is the person who they turn to for counseling and consoling trying to convert them to another faith.

Obama knew what the upper echelon of the military was doing and was all in favor of it, or he would have stopped it from happening. The Constitution is very clear on religion and the government (ie: Obama, upper brass of the military or some low life government hack who thinks he has more power than he actually has.) Now I don't agree with trying to convert people from their religion to another, but I also don't think you should stop them from talking to someone about their religion. This IMO, is a slap in the fact in every Constitution loving American in this nation.

Ian, Ian, Ian, .... save your keystrokes because and put your energies to more productive use such as explaining the theory of relativity to that cloud of butterflies in your back yard.

That sentence had to have come from the bathroom wall of a hospital for the criminally insane since no normal intelligent and sane person would ever write something like that.
