Well, I am going to try to bring some sanity into a thread that should not have been created, by a (maybe) Liberal member who always writes completely over the top shit that is unnecessary. It's starting to get a little disgusting.
First, I have no problem with Chris Christie's weight. That is his thing and as long as he can do the job he was elected to as Governor and the people of New Jersey are satistified with him, then more power to him.
The more I watch him, the more I like him, but I am still mindful of the fact that he is a Republican, part of a party that is an extremely damaged brand (even @kmiller1610 admits this) in practically every way, and against the coming onslaught with the name of Hillary Clinton, I do not think he can win, anyway. He is probably one of the only two Republicans who could make the 2016 race relatively close, the other one being Haley Barbour, whom I consider a real political heavyweight within the GOP, of much more substance than most realize. What could very well happen could be a real 4-man dogfight for the GOP nomination all the way down to the wire: Cruz (extreme Tea Party), Paul (Tea Party + Libertarians) Christie (moderates) and Bush ("bluebloods", as Palin so insultingly called them). As the GOP stumbles like a drunken man in the darkness in order to find it's identity, it may actually need this kind of dogfight in order to plot a future course.
But it is true that his obesity could kill him, or render him unable to continue his duties as an elected official. Yes, he has campaigned successfully twice for the Governorship of New Jersey, but that can in no way compare to the rigors of a presidential campaign, which is about 6 times longer and 20 times more intensive. Just take a look at comparative photos of presidents from their first campaign to their last year and see for yourself how much they age while in office. The stress is superhuman.
I have no idea how many voters would maybe not vote for Christie because of his obesity. It would not be a consideration for me, were I inclined to vote for him, so long as he were to have a truly good VP candidate. And I will submit to you that the last two VP candidates (Paul Ryan, Sarah Palin) were especially bad picks for the GOP, in retrospect. Christie would need to pick someone who he knows the public would immediately accept and trust as a successor in the case of a health tragedy.
There is no doubt in my mind that Chris Christie used his victory speech on Tuesday evening to test out a possible national run. Wait and see.
Well, I suppose we can look forward to at least three years of "Fattie" comments from the Tolerant Left.....
Kinda like those fatty comments about Michele and these The Pretty Darn Exhaustive Obama Nickname List | names about Obama from the tolerant right.....right ?
I dont call the other side names...and I try to call out my own side for theirs (but unfortunately some are just extremely troubled that way). Be nice to see some of the right champion the same.
