    Sure. Easily. With the kind of tax cut that Mr. Trump is proposing, here is what will happen:

    (1) Joe Sixpack will get a tax cut totaling about $200. Joe, being kind of dumb, will go "Whoopee!!". When he SHOULD be saying "Whoop-de-do".

    (2) John Q. Millionaire will get a tax cut of around $20,000 and will splurge on a luxury cruise in the Greek islands to celebrate his new-found fortune.

    (3) And Horatio I.M. Billionaire will get a tax cut of around $500,000. No doubt he'll be using the additional capital he now has to open up yacht factories and such all over America, creating good low-paying jobs for the rest of us.

    Trump's economic proposals will UNAMBIGUOUSLY widen the already yawning wealth and income gaps in America. Which is apparently what you WANT. Perhaps you should tell us why. Are you fond of feudalism, and want to bring that back, so that we have clearcut distinctions between aristocrats and peasants?

    No. No, I'm not. We should look at BOTH the U3 unemployment rate AND the U6 unemployment rate, as well as other measures of employment. They all contain valuable information. There IS no one 'true' unemployment rate. Measuring unemployment is COMPLICATED. [So is measuring inflation, by the way.]

    To get back to the rest of your post. Just because Paul Krugman said something doesn't mean I have to find it logical, even if you do. Secondly, 'military Keynesianism' is a pejorative term which has as much actual meaning as the term 'vulgar Keynesian'.
    The definition offered in this thread for 'vulgar Keynesianism' was quite PRECISE. I am sorry you don't seem to have the ability to comprehend it. And I have no intention of trying to explain it to you for a SIXTH time.

    This is extremely dumbed down. I don't need extremely dumbed down. A real explanation would delineate what taxes you're talking about (presumably income), in which case referring to taxpayers as millionaires or billionaires doesn't make sense as that's a designation of assets, not income.

    What I want is honest discussion, not dumbed down rhetoric.

    One thing both Trump and the Congressional Republicans want to do is to simply ABOLISH the estate tax. If you don't understand WHY that would, as I said, UNAMBIGUOUSLY widen the wealth gap in this country, then you have outed yourself as an economics illiterate.

    You weren't specific. Was the estate tax what you were referring to in your Average Joe tax cut breakdown?

    No, I was referring to INCOME tax cuts in that post. And if you're not aware that the GOP Platform calls for the abolition of the estate tax, a modest suggestion: Try reading it.

    But that's NOT the kind of 'vulgarity' I'm talking about here.

    I'm thinking back to a memorable Paul Krugman column from early 2001, after the SCOTUS had installed George W. Bush as President.

    And Bush and Cheney were calling for a ginormous tax cut to ward off what they saw as a looming recession.

    And even though Krugman is a Keynesian himself, he dubbed that idea 'vulgar Keynesianism': the notion that we should try to ANTICIPATE recessions and implement tax cuts to try to prevent that recession before it even HAPPENED.

    Donald Trump is a vulgar Keynesian in THAT sense. He is calling for a truly MASSIVE fiscal stimulus, and at a time when the U.S. economy is NOT in a recession. He is calling for:

    (1) A Trillion dollar plus infrastructure program;

    (2) A possibly trillion dollar plus military spending spree;

    (3) And, of course, ENORMOUS tax cuts, and mostly for our billionaires.

    Vulgar Keynesianism.

    And conservatives are SUPPOSED to loathe, revile, and despise Lord Keynes and his radical ideas......

    CHEW on THAT, conservatives. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

    You've gone over to the Dark Side.

    HILARIOUS!
    I bet Hillary kept the Monica cigar for herself...
