How realistic is construction employment growth of 570,000 workers? It hasn’t happened since 1946. Even the peak of the housing bubble generated only one brief year-over-year increase of 500,000 construction workers.

Without any radical changes to immigration policy, we might have capacity for an additional 50,000 construction workers per year for infrastructure projects -- far short of the 570,000 needed under Trump’s infrastructure proposal. Significant growth beyond that would likely require much higher wages and poaching from other industries, creating labor shortages in those industries.

It appears Math is not a problem for trump.

If only Obama had not added nearly 10 Trillion Dollars to the national debt.

Then, maybe we could afford to do some good things like infrastructure.

    If only...

Obama could not spend a SINGLE DOLLAR that had not been authorized by Congress. With BOTH houses under the firm control of Republicans since early 2015.

Let's assume that the debt is a catastrophe that is hanging over us like the sword of Damocles just so we can humor the right wing deficit hawks a bit. Trump is going to blow that out of the water with his budget and tax plans. I know, he has told us he will pay for it by making the economy grow at 3-5%. that is total bull. So, if the deficit is really that important to you, why not just increase taxes or cut the entire federal budget in half including SS, Medicare, Medicaid and discretionary spending? You guys are pathetic.

Maybe he should run for re-election in 2017, 2018, and 2019 then?

If Trump were to actually get all those expensive programs that he was asking for in that speech the other night, the budget deficit and the national debt will simply EXPLODE. If these maroons think it has been growing fast during the Obama years.......hoo-boy, are they gonna be SHOCKED by the hyper-galactic growth of our debt under Trumpian policies.....

The deficit only seems to be important during Democratic administrations. During Republican administrations it's all about slashing corporate and top-level tax, massively increasing military spending, starting or getting into wars, and giving nice gifts to seniors and other demographics likely to vote Republican. All of which costs a lot of money which only becomes an issue when the next Democratic president takes office and has to spend a lot of time getting things under control again.

I'm actually for spending on infrastructure. I imagine that this would be something that the dems will likely vote for, so as long as some Republicans are on board, I see this working.

*Build up of military will also create jobs. It will take the Donald's mind off of his wall.

Unfortunately, the campaign is over. It's time to govern now, and neither Trump, nor his associates, have a clue as to how to go about doing that.

Math is not all that cruel of a Mistress.

But, she ALWAYS gets her way. (At least, until we start to bend relativity.....)
