Our house was full of it when we moved in, and we took it all down. What an enormous mess! Luckily the former owners had put it up well so it didn't leave damage. I prefer paint, its easy to change, only takes a day or two and its over. Way cheaper too.

+1 on removal especially old glue formulas. The new formulation should be easier to extract. My personal preference to use textured wall coatings(marble dust with mastic or patch) for room walls, tumble marble tile for kitchen and wall tile from floor to ceiling in bathrooms.

I also noticed when we removed our old paper that it held a lot of smells from the previous owner. Things they may have cooked, pets, perfume etc seemed to really stand out when we were removing it. Made me wonder how clean it is over the years. We can just wash our walls, wallpaper not so much.
    Thanks from HCProf

In my home they put tile (with grout) instead of granite on the island because it looks pretty. That was a big mistake and it is hard to keep clean. The rest of the counters are granite and easy to deal with. I will replace the tile on the island with black granite this spring.
    Thanks from Madeline

OMG is white grout horrible. I did that in a bathroom and the first year it is beautiful...after that I regrouted every spring because you cannot get it clean. I am transitioning to granite now...the bathrooms have it and will do the kitchen next.

The last place I lost my keys.
My wife finally picked out a color to paint the kitchen, I will be doing that next weekend and the first floor will be done. Last summer I did the rest of the first floor paint, crown, base and window casings.
    Thanks from Babba and Madeline

I have never stripped it. I want a nice graphic or flower print for the bedroom, for starters.

I think it should be viewed as semi-permanent; don't put infantile prints in a baby's nursery, etc.
