I pay $99 a year with the second year ,$49 for my Smart phone. If they pay $9.95 a month they are getting cheated.

I use it for protection,or when I am out. My landline has 5 phones, and that comes as a package deal.

Notice, the poster referred to it first as an Obama phone,a deregatory name,if ever I heard one.

Then the same article showed the program started with Reagan. That was in the 80's,if I remember right.

A classic example of Republican fake news for those who just read the first few lines.

Thanks for being honest, although you posted the first paragraph that was a lie with out the rest of the story,as Paul Harvey would say.

My brother had one of the first car phones. He thought he was something. The rest of the family laughed at his huge Wilkie Talkie, like the Police used to use. Smart Phone,it was not.

    really?? my first paragraph?

do tell.. what first paragraph did i post that was a lie?

I had the first car phones. The Brick was not the first mobile phone. It was an MTS with an RF drawer in the trunk and the hand set wired to the front. As for the police hand helds...i have them to. Micor, Motran, Motrac, Mocom70's, Syntors.... yea, we can play this game all day long... woohoo.

Yes,dear! We had a Plectron on our bedroom for years. The entire family was on the Volunteer Fire Department. My Husband was a Paramedic who ran the Rescue Truck 5 days a week. While working a full time job.Our Son was Cadet,me on the Auxiliary.dominated our whole life. But was worth it. They worked closely with the Police and Sheriffs Departments.

Any government spending going to the private sector will involve fraud.

then you know nothing about what this is all about or what these scammers get do you?

they are most defiantly NOT basic phones...they are smart phones with total internet capability. My point is they SHOULD be nothing but a basic phone. No internet, not web browsing, not facebook, not snapchat, no tweeting, ...... nothing but a phone.

One needs the internet to look for job postings.

Most do not have smartphones. If you go and look, most providers are offering them now. Refurbished, btw. Throw-aways. But they tell you you are not guaranteed to get one. Most of the people currently on the program do not have smart phones.
