Trump tried to save their jobs. These workers are quitting anyway.

Many have left Carrier taking the buy outs offered by the company. These are people that are moving on to other jobs and even other industries. The article says that many feel that blue collar jobs are on the way out. Automation will be replacing many job. Offshoring has replaced many. What does the future bring as the high school graduates job? The blue collar worker without a degree's job?

Trump tried to save their jobs. These workers are quitting anyway.

T.J. Bray, a Carrier employee who is keeping his job, said he is grateful for his position at the factory, which allows him to support his 7-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter. His family just enjoyed a Florida vacation, he said. “I applaud Mr. Trump for putting us in the national spotlight,” said Bray, 33. “I won’t be able to leave here and get on somewhere else making $26 an hour.”

Other Carrier workers say Trump’s mission to revive old-school manufacturing seems futile. Andre Moore, who has logged nearly 13 years at the factory, said he never saw the president’s deal as permanent.

“What Trump actually did was bought more time,” he said. “The economy is phasing out these jobs. It’s not like it used to be, where my grandfather and uncle could actually retire.”

    I'm not surprised.

And I bet that even if you got the coal mines fired up again, most ex-employees wouldn't want those jobs back either. People need to wake up and see the future. What's needed is more retraining programs so people have better choices when they see what's coming.

To be clear most of the increase of coal production US is going to make Chinese steal. It is an ingredient in the mix.

Trump talk tough on keeping Chinese steal out the US. He knows that hurt US business and the very coal workers he is claiming to help.

Of course, and why not, they have all the money in this country. They pay so little in taxes. Who do you want to pay for it? The lower and middle class that pay so much of the taxes already? Do nothing and whine about it? That your plan?

This is what happens when you don't invest in the future, you lose jobs, you don't have enough worker skilled for the jobs you need, and the jobs of the future. This is what happens when you don't evolve. Conservatives like to bring up Detroit as example of liberal governing failing, but what Detroit did was they didn't adapt. They didn't prepare for a future and have other industries besides the auto industry, or adapt to the trend that the industry would struggle.

And what about all these small rural towns who have people struggling? That's on them and their government for not adapting. There is more job growth in green energies in this country, tis the future, yet these people fight it. And we are supposed to feel sorry for it?

Amazingly conservatives turn a blind eye to the struggles of rural, red state america and their lack of jobs, run down towns, poverty, and drug problems.

It's also the liberals fault, which of course, is bullshit. It's the people that fight so hard against adapting to a changing world. WEll, they get left behind

Donald and Ivanka could help out American Workers if they would manufacture their products here in the US.

Don't forget most of the steel used to build Trump buildings was imported.

Don't know why conservatives can continue to defend the rich, other than they have been propagandized to worship the rich people. They are the ones that have most of the wealth in this country. THey are the ones that are so greedy, they continue to fight for more and more wealth. THey are the ones cutting hours, jobs, benefits, laying people off, outsourcing, all so they can make even more profit. Oh, they can't afford to manufacture in the US, or actually follow regulations, yet they pay their CEOs multi million dollar salaries and bring in record profits.

Our problems is not the result of illegals stealing jobs, or liberals demanding safe working conditions and other regulations, its the greed of corporations that have it all and just keep wanting to take even more. Their wealth rises as the rest of the country struggles. ANd conservatives continue to ignore this and whine about taxing the rich. it's pure greed, corporations strive for squeezing every bit of profits out of everybody, regardless of the human cost
