The trouble is that you see those free things as a benefits for the individual alone, and not also for the larger community.

Imagine 20 customers clamoring for the last case of bottled water and starting a bidding war amongst themselves with a store owner. The store owner can't make them all happy, supplies are limited, so what's the morally perfect solution? To whom should the store owner sell?

What if the store owner keeps some of his merchandise for himself and his family? He paid for it, it's his decision to put it on the shelves or not. Oh the horror, shut down his business? Really? You fruitcakes can't quell your radical sense of injustice and entitlement for even a few seconds to think logically? Get a grip people.

Natural disasters create situations where there is no morally perfect answer. The government has and should have a role under the general welfare clause to address national emergencies and natural disasters. Doing this effectively will mitigate price gouging and ensure needs are met.

Those prices can't be maintained if FEMA is given sufficient power to distribute needed goods and services directly.

NOW you want to be more specific? What happened to just saying "free stuff?"
Not free, they all know full well their taxes will pay for those things.

Some people think their taxes should do more than just pay for killing brown people all over the world.

I also heard that other people were bringing water in and just giving it away, right? Pretty tough competition I would say.

The people who think government gives out free stuff to slackers always seem to find a way to that free stuff line sooner or later. When they get in line though, they tell themselves they earned it. Their idea of a society is selfishness, nothing else. There is no "we" in their world, only I, me and mine. Most of these same people go to church every Sunday too, the irony is striking.

Guess what, everybody gets free stuff. We get far more in return for our taxes than we pay into it. The right wing talking point is so friggen stupid. If you can't argue the merits of your position, then how about just shutting up instead of lying and being dishonest. You don't do your cause any help and you make yourself look bad

Amazing how conservative whine about taxes and money going to help AMericans and make this country (and their lives) better, but they are perfectly OK with the biggest expesnse, military. billions on things that destroy, not help. that kill foreigners, and amazingly, they want even more money spent on it, just lining the pockets of the ultrarich defense contractors who are always looking for and pushing the next war so they can continue to make killings off of killing.

And claim liberals are monsters for wanting healthcare for all, better education, equal rights! God damn, these people are so far gone in their brainwashing I don't think there is any help

Particularly from conservatives. They may not say it or admit it, but most of the main positions of conservatives basically boils down to "I got mine, the hell with everybody else" and basically show a complete lack of empathy. That doesn't effect me, so I don't want government spending money on it. Of course, as soon as it effects them they demand help.

And yet, strangely, that's the only argument to which you choose to address yourself. You get to choose your opinions and argue from them. You do NOT get to choose your opponent's opinions and argue only against those you find conveniently specious. For example, why not respond to post #1 rather than post #2. I discover that post #2, in just about any thread, is a distraction.
