Both are full of it.

He was in the reagan admin, no?

No, no. I assure you, Jim Cramer is smarter than Larry Kudlow. I mean that, truly.

    So?

Did you see this, from post #4?

What Kudlow said: “There’s no recession coming. The pessimistas were wrong. It’s not going to happen. At a bare minimum, we are looking at Goldilocks 2.0. (And that’s a minimum). Goldilocks is alive and well. The Bush boom is alive and well. It’s finishing up its sixth consecutive year with more to come. Yes, it’s still the greatest story never told.”

When he said it: December 2007

What happened next: The global financial crisis, followed by the worst recession since the Great Depression.

In short, in late 2007, Larry Kudlow was WILDLY, HILARIOUSLY, even MAGNIFICENTLY WRONG about the direction of the economy. Back then, I was already blogging that "If you were a trained economist, and you didn't see the Great Recession coming, you should take up a different line of work. Like picking vegetables."

Larry Kudlow should be out picking vegetables.

Of course----on the other hand----to be fair----he is NOT actually a 'trained economist'. Not of any kind. As noted in this thread, not even a Bachelor's degree in the subject. And, to be fair, only a smattering of trained economists WERE warning of a great and terrible recession looming. I was one of the few who were, along with people like Professor Nouriel Roubini (aka 'Dr. Doom'), John R. Talbott, author of 'The Coming Crash in the Housing Market', published in 2003, obviously a prophetic book, and a few others I could name. We were called Chicken Littles, Doom-and-Gloomers, and (my favorite) 'girlie-man economists'.

What a STRANGE country America has become. People are REWARDED for being massive fuckups like Larry Kudlow, and can become Chief Economic Adviser to the President, while the true prophets out there, who make accurate calls and forecasts, are relegated to the wilderness.

Maybe, just maybe, America should start listening to the folks who were RIGHT.

    Whaddaya think?

Hardly any qualification at all in my opinion. What exactly do you think he did there 40 years ago that has any relevance to today?
