U.S. Manufacturers Seek Relief From President Trump's Tariffs

This article ran in many major American newspapers on April 19th. I'm a bit more than a week late in posting it. This is, of course, utterly predictable, and in fact WAS predicted. What a MESS Mr. Trump has created!

You bet the US manufacturers are seeking relief from these tariffs. They want to continue to purchase materials from countries where the materials are cheaper. Buying US materials is more expensive but it employs Americans. Do you support American manufactures purchasing more materials from overseas providers that are undercutting the prices that American material suppliers can offer?

This is what your President Trump's steel tariffs are going to lead to, and it was from the second paragraph in the article:

Jody Fledderman, CEO of Batesville Tool & Die in Indiana, said U.S. steelmakers had already raised their prices since Trump’s tariffs were announced last month. Fledderman said he might may have to shift production to a plant in Mexico, where he can buy cheaper steel.

Here's a guy who may have NO CHOICE but to shift his factory to Mexico, or see his company go bankrupt, because of the higher steel prices. So tell us, genius, why is it that you don't give a FUCK about THOSE American jobs?

These tariffs are going to COST us many more American jobs than they save, BECAUSE we have 80 jobs in steel-USING industries for every job we have in the steel-PRODUCING industry. This is the SAME thing that happened when President George W. Bush imposed tariffs on steel back in 2002, and why he unceremoniously dropped them only about 17 months later, in 2003: because they were COSTING us jobs.
