Everything swings in cycles. Interest rates need to rise back to normal. Regarding tariffs, you have no issue when everyone uses them in some form against us, putting us at a disadvantage. China got drunk on screwing us over.

People with money are buying the more expensive Trucks and SUVs. Millennials are not buying stuff.
Maybe they can't find decent jobs. Lots of labor competition is allowed to pour in.

How much emission was generated to produce those cars, from extracting the raw ore to workers driving to the auto factory to build it. If the cars are scrapped, that's a lot of waste in resources.
How much real world emissions is being added by these cars if they were allowed to keep driving compared to a car that may already be half worn out? I don't feel sorry for VW, they cheated. The cars already exist. Do you just trash functioning resources?

By the way , Mexico hates illegals that break the law. You of course have no problem with Mexico. Hypocrisy on steroids.

Buying a new car is a financial hit because of govt at the local level. Sales tax is pricey, we have an annual tax based on the car value. Big bucks every year, insurance is high. So buying new cars often is a financial whipping. Thanks local govt for making car buying a financial train wreck.

What would you expect from California?

I recall reading that in Japan, they do it backwards: They encourage people to buy new cars by increasing the annual registration fee as the car gets older.

Dumbest people ever. They have maybe $500 worth of junk piled up in the Garage, $30,000,40,000 cars sitting out in the elements.

I had to park my car on the street for 3 days while they put in new curbs. I hated it,walk across the street to carry groceries, gym bag, etc!

My kids think I would be happy in a Retirement Center! No, I want my freedom, my lifestyle and ability to live as I wish. Going up and down stairs several times a Day is good for me.

And I cleaned out all the junk I have been collecting for decades. Can not tell you how good that feels.and getting rid of more each day.

And no, I did not 'predict' a Hillary victory, except for a few days after the release of that vile Hollywood Access tape. I admit, I thought that people hearing Trump talk about 'grabbing pussies' would mean the end of his campaign. But no, that seemed to blow over, so the truth is, I was very nervous about his chances of winning all along, worried that he might in fact swing some of those Midwestern Rust Belt states, as he in fact did.
    TNV is hopelessly ignorant.
