So except for uber drivers and some amount of taxi drivers, i don't really see a big impact on the supporting industry due to cars being auto-driven in the future.
It would be easy to automate oil changes. Your car could report and return while you sleep. If there is a problem you can take a self driving Uber. If the new self driving cars are electric there is much less maintenance. The purchase process could be completely automated, like Carvana with self delivering cars.

We won't need as many humans in the future and should be actively working to reduce future populations.

Lots of cities are now banning Uber over taxi union members complaints. I just dont see how they survive if this keeps up.

Haven't there also been a LOT of sexual assault charges against Uber drivers? I guess they're not properly screening their drivers, or something? I haven't really been following the story perhaps as closely as I should have been, but........

Anyone can be an Uber driver, they are independent businessmen. But the unions are really going after them so they might have an uphill battle. The good parts are they can be everywhere, even in rural areas, where taxis might not be and they use apps to find riders. If taxis started doing this, they could catch up fast. Nobody wants to make a phone call and wait 45 minutes for a taxi when there is an Uber app.

The emissions test is a number. How much emissions was generated to build all of those cars, produce the raw materials. The resources wasted here will never ever make up for the slight increase in exhaust increase. These are new cars, not 15 year old warn out cars that belch out far more.

That's all irrelevant whining. If you live in a state that requires annual inspections, these cars won't pass those inspections. The only way to drive them would be to drive them illegally.

I've seen that post. What I can't find is a news article verifying that any of these stored VWs have been destroyed.

Is state inspection as strict as what is placed on new cars as time of manufacture?

Just what do you expect to happen to those many thousands of cars? Rotting out in the environment will make them worthless.
