Exactly. Starting wage jobs aren't meant to support a family.

People take the jobs they are offered because they don't always have other options. Not everyone has the skills to get a high paying job, or there aren't enough high paying jobs to go around. So what you posted here is not entirely correct.

    You should try observing.

Go to a convenience store on a Fri evening.

Cigs, beer, lottery tickets on the inside, weed in the parking lot.

And how do you know how much those people earn?

Why aren't our high schools providing people with the skills to get higher-paying jobs? Why are our high schools churning out millions upon millions of math dopes and science illiterates, year after year after year?? Those people working at Wal-Mart and McDonald's, most of them have high school diplomas.

High school diplomas have become meaningless pieces of paper in America today. They don't tell prospective employers ANYTHING.

It is corporate welfare on a massive scale. Some of those large corporations even go out of their way to help their employees figure out how to apply for food stamps and housing assistance, etc.

More to the point, we can't help make them wiser.
The expression " some just can't be helped " is a wise one. Perhaps what you see are those that fit.

They've never been sufficient to get jobs that support a family. People have always had to have more education or a skill to move up.
