I've always said from the start, minimum wage in any country is bad. It distorts the economy for the worse.

If McDonalds could get slave labor, they wouldn't have to buy these expensive machines, I am always glad to hear the Fascist take on topics.

McDonald's will roll out self-order kiosks to 1,000 stores every quarter for the next two years, according to CEO Steve Easterbrook.

The kiosks were already in roughly 3,500 US McDonald's restaurants as of March, or about one-fourth of its domestic stores. They will be in about half of US restaurants by the end of 2018 and in all stores by 2020. McDonald's locations in Australia, Canada, and the UK are even further along in kiosk usage.

Customers who use the kiosks tend to browse the menu and order more, Easterbrook told CNBC this week, adding, "There's a little bit of an average check boost."

McDonald's and other restaurant companies are wrangling with rising labor costs in the US as minimum wage hikes take effect in markets around the country. In the first quarter of the year, McDonald's payroll and employee benefits were 30.2% of sales, up from 27.8% during the same period in 2017.

I refuse to use the self-serve check-outs.If a place won't do face to face service with me, they lose my business. Of course, that would be no big loss with McDonalds.

And allows the business to take advantage of their employees.
    You support that?

When unemployment is low, the labour force can get better wages. When there's high unemployment, the employer calls the shots. But when a minimum wage goes up and up, labour begins to get wiped out by automation.

So either have jobs with up and down wages or eventually few jobs at all. Pick the least worst. If you believe wiping jobs out and minimum wage is the the way forward, that's your choice, but it's not mine.

A lot of people say this about new technology until they try it. It's 2018 and I had never taken an Uber until just this year, had no real interest in it, assumed it seemed shady, didn't understand or trust how it worked. Then I tried it. It's amazing.

Clutch your pearls, but when technology is being adopted, it's because there's something awesome about it. If it wasn't awesome, no one would give a shit or use it.

Seen them here in Canada. Don't like it. It's complicated for me, can't imagine what it would be like for old people who grew up without computers and such to use it...

But, I rarely go to fast food joints anyway.

Our minimum wage won't even support bare subsistence living. What the hell's the point of working full time if the pay won't even feed you and put a roof over your head? We have practically outlawed labor unions, so workers here have no opportunity to bargain for fair wages. We instituted a minimum wage after the Great Depression because it had become obvious that market forces don't work for keeping wage rates equal to inflation.

It was attitudes like yours that caused the Great Depression to begin with.
