Then move to Germany. They also only work 35 hour work weeks and get 4 weeks holiday a year. Here in the USA if you want to demand UAW wages to build cars, you may remain unemployed while people who want to work get those jobs.

We are far from 3rd world. You brought up Germany. Are you willing to impose the taxes that they have? Look into it. I've lived in Germany. The cost of living is higher. Comparing what a German automaker makes to what a US automaker makes is ignorant.

Getting back to Volvo, I'd guess it may be the last gasp of a European car manufacturer trying to survive with an electric car in the US. Seems doubtful to me.

Volvo is owned by the Chinese. They arent Swedish owned anymore.

Doesn't matter who owns it, still has the same problem in that it can't compete with asian cars

I'm not saying they aren't happy. Consider that nearly half the wage earners in the USA pay zero federal income tax or less. Now tell them we are imposing taxes like in Germany. Think about an 18% value added tax to everything purchased. Hell, we have states that have zero percent sales tax. Look at what they pay for a gallon of gas. Check out the home ownership rate. Take a gander at what Germans pay for heat in the winter. The grass may seem greener on the other side of the fence, but it still has to be mowed.
